Budgeting this month with last month's income--glitch in the Matrix?

We have been using YNAB for about 4 years now. We just wrapped up December's budget, made sure everything was green or at 0.  Moved December's income from a holding category to January's TBB and budgeted everything into categories. Then on December 31, we had 4 transactions.  I thought I was going to be tricky and just re-date those to January 1 and the money would come out of the January budget.  But alas, they completely disappeared! Before I did that, though, when I reopened my January budget (about 3 days after we budgeted everything), I had a TBB deficit totaling the Dec. 31 transactions.  After re-entering all those transactions correctly (bank would not re-import), my TBB deficit is now double into the red. Ackkk!  Any help appreciated =)

  • Make sure you don't have a date filter on your transactions. You may have double entered them. Otherwise, contact support directly.

My thought also.  I like to keep my filter on "this month" and if Cadet Blue Moose  did that, it would  explain both what happened in December and what is happening now.

  • Thank you! While looking into that, I discovered while I was trying to be tricky, I had dated those 4 transactions for 1/1/19, not 1/1/2020. That’s why it seemed they had disappeared. Note to self—being tricky doesn’t always save you time. 🤔
