Can I Un-reconcile an account?
I was happily reconciling my accounts today when a snafu occured. I don't know exactly how but am sure it's related to some transaction changes made along the way ie, transaction listed to wrong acct and at least 1 deletion of manual transaction that didn't take place. So my I acct that was beautifully reconciled at the beginning is now -99.00 when I transferred 125.00 from another acct. What is my best option to sort this out?
Hi Tamara Naftal !
If you've reconciled incorrectly, first try clicking undo. If you're unable to click undo because you’ve refreshed the page or logged out, you can follow these steps:
1. If there is a Reconciliation Balance Adjustment transaction from that incorrect reconciliation, delete that transaction.
2. Look for transactions with the lock icon that shouldn't be locked (reconciled). Create new identical transactions and delete the locked ones.
3. Reconcile again. :)
Let me know how it goes!
I have to second this question. I was playing with the auto-match feature and now my account is off and I don't know why. I would like to peel back (unreconcile) the transactions one at a time as listed on the bank statement, until I figure out where the balance in YNAB matches the bank, then move forward and reconcile as normal. As it is, I cannot figure out what went wrong, and I know no graceful way to change the lock status.
Is there not a way to change the lock status of a transaction?
The workaround I needed to use last night was to enable the running balance, so I can see the amount of money I have in my account as a result of each transaction. Then, I just used the checkbox to select the transactions near the end of the month that were actually on my bank statement. If the last several transactions for a given month are all contiguous in your list, the final transaction's balance should show you the ending balance of your statement. If there are gaps because some transactions for the next month show up in YNAB before the last transaction of the month you are reconciling, then you will have to subtract/add those amounts from the total on the last transaction that you have checked.
