Deleting an Investment Account

I put my Fidelity account in YNAB and decided I don't want to track it anymore in YNAB. I don't need to see all of the transactions. When I try to delete the account, YNAB asks me where to transfer the balance. I just want to delete the account, to make YNAB look like it did before I added the account.

Is there a way to do that?

You can't close an account with a balance, and you can't delete an account with transactions.

You should delete all the transactions in the account and then try again. If any of them were transfers from other accounts in YNAB, this will create a mess.

Another option would be to reconcile the account to a zero balance, let it adjust, and just close the account.

You might also consider a fresh start and delete the account from your new budget.  That way your budget won't become all wonky if you were to delete all the transactions from your old budget.
