Budgeting End of the Month Income

I’m debating on how to handle income that comes in at the end of the month. We are paid 2x per month, middle and end. The issue I have is if we are paid on the 27th then there’s 5-6 days before the new month.

I know if we were buffered it wouldn’t be an issue, but we aren’t. So my question is, should I just budget it in December and let it carry over? Or push it to January and wait to log transactions until the first of the month?

  • If you don't need the money in December, budget it in January. You may want to use one of the Income for next month workarounds developed by some of hte YNAB users to ensure that the money doesn't get pulled back into December accidentally.
