Web Running Very Slowly
Over the last few days, the web app has been running very slowly for me. Checking a box next to a transaction takes about 20-30 seconds before the box will actually become checked. I'm using Chrome on a Windows 10 machine.

We haven't seen any system issues that might explain what you're experiencing, but I'm hopeful we can figure this out.
So, do you happen to have a large budget? Meaning, do you have transactions that go back a few years?
And have you already tried the following?
1. Run the app in a Private Browsing session to see if that works any better.
2. Disable any browser extensions you might have to see if that helps.
3. Clear your browser's cache to see if that improves performance at all.

Dan I've also been having trouble with web app running really slowly, exactly as Jared Tarnasky described--super slow to acknowledge checking a box or entering a transaction. My internet is otherwise very speedy. I cleared my cache and that improved things a little, but not much. It's been going on for about 2 weeks and it's not 100% of the time. I'm using Chrome on a MacBook Air running MacOS High Sierra.Reply
So I opened a support ticket with YNAB last week and was given the usual line "It's not us, it's you." Appears it's not only me :)
This 10 second freeze up occurs when clearing a transaction during reconciliation, when saving a new transaction, when approving a download transactions, etc. It's happening on my home PC with 10 and latest Chrome, also happening on MacBook Pro with latest Chrome and Safari, and a work Laptop running Windows 10 with Chrome, FireFox, and IE.
Anyway, not that I like sharing misery, but maybe now they'll try to find an issue faster since it's happening to us.Reply
Same problem here for me. I apply a filter for unapproved transactions, try to batch select them all and it just kind of hangs for 30-40 seconds, then eventually all the items are selected. I then select "Approve" and it's another 30-40 seconds before I get control back. The app generally seems to very slow. Seeing as this is multiple users reporting the same issue, all starting around about the same time, it's probably not strictly a user issue. I'm using Chrome on Windows 10, but tried the same on Firefox and it wasn't really any better. And yes, I have a long history of transactions. This shouldn't be something a user has to work around, it should be completely normal.Reply
Dan Same problem here - confirmed YNAB is slow on two different laptops - 1 Windows 10, 1 Macbook Pro (Sierra). Cleared cache on both, closed browser and no improvement. First noticed this two weeks ago and thought it was the Win10 laptop - but now it would appear to be a YNAB system issue. Love YNAB - but this issue makes it difficult to use even for simple budget tasks.Reply
Dan - Not sure if it's related, but when I try to navigate within or away from one of accounts (it happens to be the one with the most transactions (~3000)), it takes forever. Chrome will ask if I want to kill the page or wait, and usually the page will update just after that warning comes up. When I navigate other parts of YNAB, I don't have these issues, but trying to move around within that account causes severe lag. Is there a limit to the number of transactions an account can hold, or is there a database clean up utility to try to identify any records in there that are causing a problem?Reply
Same problem here: using Firefox on an iMac and a MacBook Pro and get the "stop it/wait" dialog after EVERY action in YNAB.
I just switched to Firefox due to a still unresolved problem with the YNAB header suddenly magnifying itself on Chrome. (Sure wish I could get an answer on that nearly year-old problem!)Reply
Same issue here, on Chrome, on different computers, the web app is using the CPU a LOT when doing basically anything. Switching accounts is especially difficult, it takes over a minute for the switch to happen, the tab freezes completely and the page is using the CPU like crazy.
It's hard to check what's going on in the Chrome DevTools, because all the JS code is minified, but there are a lot of messages in the console. I cleared the console just before switching to the account and in the few seconds it took me to open Snipping Tool and take the attached screenshot I already had almost 100 thousand messages, all the same, from rollbar.min.js. Might want to check what the hell is wrong with Rollbar :)
I have a very large budget, with history going back to 2016. I use the YNAB toolkit to help me manage it, but the app is slow with the toolkit uninstalled, so it doesn't have anything to do with this issue. I am willing to help you debug the issue anyway I can, just drop me an email.Reply

I'm writing to let you know that we have fixed the cause of this issue! 🎉 Take a look at our Release Notes for more details on the fix.
While you should no longer have any trouble, if you are still seeing that behavior you may need to clear your cache. Here are instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. You will lose certain information that your browser remembers, so you may have to re-set logins, etc.
At that point you should be all set – please let us know if you see this happening again though!.

Ack! Cornflower Blue Cello CMircea you're right about the Release Notes! Sorry for the false lead there. Rest assured that the actual bug has been squashed though. Is everything looking as expected now on your ends? Some YNABers have needed to do a quick cache clear-out to get it totally back to normal, but after that you should be all set! 😄

I'm experiencing pretty much the same problems CMircea has described above.
I have a budget that goes way back to 2016, have lots of entries and YNAB is slow as hell.
I believe I started to notice it about 1-2 weeks ago. I'm on a Macbook with Safari running, have restarted, deleted cache and it still takes about 1-2 seconds when I click on something in the interface, sometimes even with a beachball . Energy consumption is high. Lots of errors in the console as well. I have attached an image of the last 6 entries. Maybe it has something to do with the new API?
i'll chime in here...definitely had this exact issue for the last few weeks. frustrating indeed, but i figured it would get fixed sooner or later. i haven't cleared my cache yet in my main chrome profile, but i have just logged into YNAB in an Incognito session and everything is snappy for me again! I was having tons of slow downs when in All Accounts view doing any kind of searching (30-60 seconds of delay between clicks and response).
