YNAB relationship win

My hubby who a few years ago pouted and stomped his feet whenever budgets were mentioned, actually used the term "whack a mole" correctly in reference to our discussing some unexpected expenses that we are covering from another category. So proud!

  • Must feel great! Big win.  I don't think I'm going to get my partner on board with YNAB anytime soon, but one of my good friends just started it a couple of weeks ago and it's such a relief to be able to talk to someone (besides on this forum!) about budgeting, the credit card float, etc. in the same we that we in the YNAB community understand it.

Slate Blue Pilot oh it took a lot of years! But it also helped that I loosened up on some of "his" categories. We allocate the money there and I only have to think about it once a month (well technically twice because I fill up the budget on pay days). And he doesn't have to listen to me ask what is this for, and what did you buy there all the time.

I suspect my spouse likes YNAB if only because it has stopped the "What did you buy from Amazon for $14.38 on the 12th?" questions, too, since before YNAB, I went through every single credit card statement and made sure that the charges were legit.  But mostly because it makes me happy and it's easy to do.  He's mentioned doing up a budget for his personal bank account, which is largely his 'fun money' allotment, so that's cool too.
