Is this how Plaid works?

I know there are issues that are being worked on, but for some reason each time I use plaid I have to agree to the terms and conditions and enter the credentials. I thought they cached those? Is that not the case?

Also, I have 2fa with USAA and for some reason I have to do that twice each time. Its like the first time it doesn't register. I thought someone else mentioned this as well. Is this an issue across the board or just for USAA?

  • This double authentication issue has since been resolved, but I wanted to add a few quick links for those of you who may read this in the future. If you see any odd behavior with your connections, please reach out! We want to help. 馃檪

You can report an issue here and our Direct Import team will help get things back up & running! We aren鈥檛 able to troubleshoot Bank Importing issues in the forum, and replies here have been closed.

  • I have not seen a Plaid terms of agreement other than when we first switched.  Also, I haven't seen issues with 2FA USAA.  Some have, some haven't....may have more with how we enabled it.

Scythe Weird. I saw it when we first switch and each time it tries to sync. It is very annoying.

  • Hi RIP_MSMoney !

    Sorry for the trouble!

The multiple sign in issue is being looked into - it's currently listed on our status page. As for the terms of agreement, are you seeing that when asked to complete the 2FA? If so, you can reach out to our Direct Import team by reporting a Bank Importing Issue and they can confirm if that's expected behavior for the institution where you're seeing that notice.

Faness yes "Agree" page is presented each time i need to sync usaa. Then i need to reenter creds again and then do 2fa (and 2fa has to be done twice)

    • RIP_MSMoney Thank you for taking the time to submit that form! I just did some digging and I'm seeing the same behavior. My accounts that stay connected (no 2FA required) don't ask for me to reauthenticate, but the accounts with 2FA show the agreement and then ask me to reauthenticate twice before connecting. It might be a part of the multiple 2FA issue, but our direct import team will be able to tell you more! :)

  • I am having a similar issue with Wells Fargo. I have to agree to the terms and get a code on my phone 2 times to reconnect and sync. It鈥檚 very frustrating.

    • Aquamarine Mare Sorry for the trouble! This is a widespread issue that we're currently working on with our import partner. We're keeping our status page updated and we'll post there once this has been resolved. :)

  • Same for Navy Federal. Twice every time. It's so much worse than it was before. Plaid should have known about this ahead of time. This is poor software testing. Same to you YNAB. Don't take something to production before it's been tested at least at the UX .   #SHAME

  • I'm having the same problem, and with Discover it's so bad it's actually locked my account out twice now from requesting too many 2FA tokens in too short a period of time (it was prompting me three times with Discover, and after the third it just locked out entirely).

I kinda feel like YNAB was forced to switch to Plaid, and so far, I'm not impressed with them at all.  The old importer had significant issues, but I never had multiple 2FA prompts, never had to fully re-auth, and never had an account lock out, in two years of using it.

Also, every time I fight with it, I think of this:

    • poshcodebear I'm sorry to hear you were locked out! We are working on a fix for the multiple re-authorizations (on our status page), though if you have a moment鈥攑lease report a Bank Importing Issue and our team would be happy to look closer.

  • I do not fault Plaid. I fault YNAB (my service provider).

  • In addition to having to use MFA two or three times (each session) and occasionally being told my security credentials are incorrect (not possible as I use them to log into my banks web site) now after getting reconnected to my bank and completing the import when I go to another tab in my web browser for less than one minute I get disconnected from my bank (USAA) and have to go through the whole process again.  I don't know who to blame exactly but I do know that this is not what I paid for.
