Canadians - Which Direct Importer Are You Using?

I'm growing exceedingly frustrated with Plaid. Some of the institutions I use aren't available and the ones that do, like TD Canada Trust, always have delay error messages for importing so it'll take days for any new transactions to be imported.

I tried MX just over 6 months ago and although I could connect to any institution I had an account with, often times it would keep asking me to confirm certain passwords or information before it would download the new transactions which brought on a different set of frustration.

I'm curious what everyone here is using. I have accounts with TD, Scotia, Amex and Rogers Bank. Wish we could use the same importer as Mvelopes - never ever had an issue there.

  • I have a Simplii account and the transactions come in daily generally the next day after but also depending on the time of day, some hit again in the afternoon.

Scotiabank credit card charges surge in on Tuesdays. All the weekend activity hits. An exciting YNAB matching day.

CIBC and  MBNA require me to reauthorize almost daily.

Others like Tangerine and EQ Bank are fine some weeks and not so fine other weeks.

I just got a B of M card to do some churning so I will see how that imports.

Not sure if this was helpful.

  • Thanks for the reply. I really wish YNAB would engage with Yodlee for their backend connectivity. Any time I've used a service which relies on Yodlee, I have flawless connections to all my accounts. MX was a disaster for me, constantly asked me daily to reauthorize. Plaid has worked better but suffers from delayed imports from TD Canada Trust and is missing several institutions including MBNA Canada, Rogers Bank and a few others.
