Bank Connections Suck
So, yes, I'm frustrated. I have been spending the better part of a year dealing with the joke that YNAB calls bank connectivity. Today, I'm staring at a screen - again - where YNAB can't connect to my bank.
The replies I get from support are "well that's not the YNAB way, just enter every expense proactively" (paraphrased). Or, if I look at the support page, I see entry after entry showing failures in connecting to different banks.
This isn't widespread, this is YNAB. My Fidelity account works fine when connecting to other accounts, when I used Mint, it worked fine, and when I used Quicken - also perfectly fine.
I'm tired of YNAB's CONSTANT connectivity failures and constant inability to help. This is 2020 - all kinds of online services talk to each other flawlessly. Get this fixed YNAB...
Have to re-up on this one. It has been over a month of issues with AmEx and Charles Schwab and it just doesn't seem that YNAB and their direct import partner should have problems like this for that long. I know how to to unlink and I know how to manage connections and then re-load the whole thing. But truly, YNAB is falling down on this - what's the status of fixes here? It's crazy that we pay a monthly charge and then have problems like this over and over.
I'm having the same problem and it's been ongoing for months now. I'm a pretty patient person so I've just been "dealing with it" but I find increasingly that I don't even want to log into YNAB to update my budget and spending because I know I'm going to be dealing with the bank import issue and then entering everything manually. Has anyone figured out a way around this problem, aside from just manually entering everything? Is there any news that something is going to be changed with the bank import feature to make it more reliable and well, functional? I need some sort of shred of hope to hold on to before I jump ship to some other budgeting software. I just love YNAB so much but this is not working for me.
I have used YNAB for about five years and recommend it to everyone. A year ago my Capital One account stopped connecting. I finally gave up and just moved my spending to Chase. (Capital One still isn't resolved, by the way.)
Now Chase has not connected in about two months. It's so frustrating. I really love the software, but what good is it if I can't connect to my accounts? And don't tell me to manually input. Who has time for that?
I checked their YNAB Status page and every single credit card I own has a connectivity issue - AMEX, BOA, Chase, Capital One. And all of the most recent updates are basically, "we are still working on it! hang in there!"
Does anyone have a recommendation on another platform that provides the same features without all of the connectivity issues? I remember trying Mint before moving to YNAB five years ago, and didn't like it. But it's been a while since I've looked at the options.
