Can we configure scheduled, repeating transactions to project more than one transaction at a time?
I absolutely love the scheduled transaction feature. However, one thing that really bugs me is that my repeating transactions only show up one at a time.
For example, I use Home Chef for meal delivery and this is a weekly, repeating transaction. I get paid this Friday (4/29) and will get paid again in 2 weeks (5/14). When I go into my scheduled transactions to calculate how many autopay/true expenses I have coming out of tomorrow's paycheck, I bulk check all of the transactions from 4/29-5/13 and YNAB will calculate the total for me. However, because only repeating transaction will show at one time, this total is only including one of the Home Chef transactions when there are going to be two coming out of that time period.
I'd love a way to set a number of transactions that YNAB will project/show/calculate in the scheduled transactions list. Does this already exist and I'm missing it? Is there a better way?
I'm thinking you could create 4 scheduled transactions that each repeat every 4 weeks. That way you'd see all 4 on your scheduled transactions. I do a similar thing with my paychecks, where I have 2 scheduled transactions, scheduled 4 weeks repeating, so there's always 2 in my scheduled transactions.
I think that's probably the best way, since there isn't an option for showing the same transaction more than once.
Breanne This is a much-requested feature, and one of the very few things I miss from Quicken. I'd love to have it in my budget, too!
If you’d like to send this idea over to our Product team for consideration, please submit a Feature Request. (Pretty please?)
Hah. Girl, same thing here. And we have multiple meal deliveries because of a big fam and total laziness (not saying you are!). It's all weekly, gotta be. And when I skip a week I try to account for that too. One thing YNAB lacks is a skip upcoming transaction option, so you have to enter it now and then delete.
It's good to do it weekly too, because amounts can change if you do different quantities and stuff, so I try to get that right in the future too. With 2 different services and 3 different deliveries, I have a monthly meal planning session that probably rivals the time it would take to do "real" meal planning at a fraction of the cost, but c'est la vie!
