By Date Goal - Adjusting

So, in January I set a 'By Date' Goal for a category and now, due to COVID-19, I won't spend as much in that category this year after all. (I set it for Dec 2020 in January.) My question is, should I adjust the goal during the current month for the remainder of the year or go back to Jan and change it there?

  • I would just adjust the goal in the current month.

  • So I started playing with this and changing it in the current month doesn't work.  When I clicked Edit Goal in June and change to my new full year number it acted as if it was a brand new goal in June and wiped out the goal that I had started in January so that now all prior months no longer even show that there was a goal for the first 5 months of the year. I then went back to Jan and edited the goal there and it acted more like I wanted it to.

  • A spend-by date effectively starts over the month in which you edit it. Do one of these:

    • Scroll back to January to edit the amount.
    • Take spending between Jan and June into account and edit (create) it in June with the revised amount.
    • Push the final date out to May 2021 but keep the same (yearly) amount. Consider a lower amount, though, given your latest expectations of spending moving forward.
