Great Lakes Student Loans unable to sync

It keeps saying the answer was unrecognized, or it timed out. I know it's correct, I went so far as to reset it just to make sure. Does anyone know how to add a great lakes account?

  • Hi Jonathan Howard !

That screen should be referring to your security questions. Do you have a security pin on your Great Lakes account instead of security questions? Or is that pin referring to a one time passcode that is either texted or emailed to you?

You can check your Great Lakes account to see the security method you have in place. Let me know and we can go from there! :)

    • Faness It is a required persistent security pin, they do not have an option for security questions.

    • Jonathan Howard Thank you for explaining! I actually have a Great Lakes account, so I just went through the steps of adding it on my end and it accepted my pin (surprised I still remembered it!).

I took a look at your connection, and it isn't reading that entry. When you have a moment, click the “Import(!)" button at the top of your account register, and re-enter your pin once it asks for it.

If it still doesn't connect, let me know and I'll have our Direct Import partner take a look!

    • Faness I searched this topic because I'm having the same problem. No matter how many times I put in my username, password, and PIN it times out. I double checked and I can log in fine with the same information on the loan website. Did anyone figure out how to fix this?

    • Hi Orange Lightning !

I was able to get my account connected that day. I took a look and I'm seeing your account timed out. Let's try resetting that connection.

To start, you’ll remove the connection to this financial institution:

      1. Select your budget name in the top left-hand corner and choose Manage Connections from the drop-down menu.

      2. Then Remove the connection(s) to this financial institution, confirm removal and close the window.

Then you’ll reconnect your account(s) to a fresh connection:

      3. Hover over the existing account (in the left sidebar) and click on the edit icon.

      4. Select Link Account > Add New Connection. Search for the financial institution, and follow the prompts.

If that doesn't do the trick, let us know and we can have our Direct Import partner investigate! :)

    • Faness Okay, I reset them. Now to see if they update next month.

    • Hi Orange Lightning !

I hope you don't mind me stepping in here! It looks like there is a successful connection to Great Lakes now. Yay! Can I have you try to link the accounts to the connection?

      1. Hover over the existing account (in the left sidebar) and click on the edit icon.
      2. Select Link Account, click on your Great Lakes connection, and follow the prompts.

Let me know how it goes!

    • Nicole at YNAB Oh! Yes, that's what I hadn't done. All linked now, that should do it. Thank you!
