Capital One Credit Cards - This is completely unacceptable.

What am I paying for? I did the stupid two factor authentication thing with the text sent to my phone, even though literally everywhere else that CapOne is linked is not requiring this, and the text came but there was yet another problem.

YNAB says the connection is delayed. If it's delayed, how did the request to confirm the account and import go through immediately? If it's not delayed, and the reality is clearly that it's not, why can't YNAB hire anyone who can manage one of the key factors of their product? At what point do they acknowledge that they clearly don't have the programming acumen to properly accomplish what the software claims it will do and either charge WAY less for it or give up?

  • I pull in CapOne through YNAB and Personal Capital - both have this issue. Which makes me think it's on Capital One's side? But you think otherwise...where else do you have these linked?

  • If you don't think ynab is worth the price let them know by cancelling your subscription.

    Your Capital One connection is currently successful, and transactions have imported recently. How is that looking on your end?

    Our Direct Import partner tries to sync with each of your connections daily. But it's not uncommon for any financial institution to say, "Sorry, check back later—we're busy!". This is what triggers the Delayed error to show up on your end.

    We do outsource our data-aggregation to providers who specialize in this area. It’s expected that there will be bumps in the road, and while we do everything we possibly can to fix issues as quickly as possible, it’s just not something we have the power to eliminate (and trust me, we really wish we did).

    I understand you're frustrated. If this one feature causes more trouble than it's worth, you can absolutely use YNAB—and get the full benefit—without it. There are many other ways to get your transactions, including entry on your mobile device and File-Based Importing

    If those options are not satisfactory to you, we understand that as well and wish you the best.

  • My CapOne hasn't synced since the 8th. I get the request to login, then the "send code to XXXX" , do that, put the code in, and it just keeps doing it over and over again.

      I took a look and I'm currently seeing a successful connection to Capital One. Are you still having trouble importing those transactions?

  • CapitalOne is requiring a pin code each time to refresh the ledger - I'm curious why two YNAB support staff see differently? I *think* that's what the OP is referring to.  I'm pretty sure there was a message about this upon login, at one point.

      Originally, the OP wasn't able to connect after entering the pin code. Having to enter a pin code each time is expected, but after entering it you should be able to connect and import transactions. If you're not able to import transactions, please let us know!

  • Mine says it's linked successfully but all my transactions from Monday have yet to import.

      Have you already tried our troubleshooting steps? More specifically, have you tried to “remove” the connection (not the account!) and then re-connect? It's different than using the Disconnect (or Unlink) button, you won't lose any data, and it seems to do the trick for most issues! 

      If you’ve already tried this, or if you get to the end and you still can’t get connected, send a quick reply to let me know. 

      To start, you’ll remove the connection to this financial institution:

      1. Select your budget name in the top left-hand corner and choose Manage Connections from the drop-down menu.

      2. Then Remove the connection(s) to this financial institution, confirm removal and close the window.

      Then you’ll reconnect your account(s) to a fresh connection:

      3. Hover over the existing account (in the left sidebar) and click on the edit icon. 

      4. Select Link Account > Add New Connection. Search for the financial institution, and follow the prompts.

      Give that a try, and let me know how it goes!

    • Faness I followed your instructions and AM connected (I was before too) but none of the transactions show up in the last couple of days.

    • Navy Blue Pegasus Thanks for giving those a try! Can you let me know which account you're expecting transactions in? It looks like only one of your Capital One accounts is currently linked, and wanted to double check. You'll want to re-link your other accounts like this!

      Sorry for the delayed response here! I took a look here and it's showing that transactions haven't imported in that account recently, so I sent you a quick email to get a few examples!

  • You are paying for the bliss that comes with financial freedom. I also have Capital One and have the import setup, but these delays really haven't bothered me. I reconcile every day, so, sure, it takes a few minutes to find the missing transactions, but reconciling is something that needs to be done regularly anyway. It's still totally worth the cost of the YNAB subscription for me. 

    Also, note, this isn't YNAB's fault. It's actually a good thing. The banks are taking security more seriously. I believe people outside of the US basically don't have the ability to import and never really have since there are stricter laws in other countries.

    The additional effort is very minimal compared to the total payoff.
