Desktop Alternative to YNAB?

Hi,

I've just learned that I'll not be able to use the desktop YNAB in future versions of Mac OS. The online subscription version is a big NOPE for me so has anybody found a suitable desktop app for Mac OS that has a similar feature set to YNAB?

I don't want to get into a big discussion about why it's great to use the online version and how secure it is. I simply do not want to have my budget information online in any way, shape or form.

Thanks.

  • Some of us long-time YNAB4 users have been searching for 3+ years and have yet to find a suitable alternative.

  • Thanks for the info. I’m going with  Moneyspire for now, at least it’s not trying to tie my into an online subscription model.

Salmon Cup How do you like Moneyspire since you've started using it?

Maroon Mask I found it really seriously clunky to set up and follow a budget in Moneyspire.

Coral Trumpet I recommend not forecasting with such a small cash-on-hand number. I recommend not forecasting at all, but with $800 you really can't risk having fake money in your budget. You have a single category which exceeds the actual amount you have on hand by over 40% which means the other 42% of the rent, and everything beneath it, is not actually money you have, and if you spend it, you run the risk of coming up short for something else.

WordTenor And people wonder why YNAB dropped the red arrow. 😲

  • I am more transfixed by this budget than I am my own.  Now, what app is this?  I couldn't quite make it out.  I love the YNAB screenshot punchline at the end.  Are these numbers for real though??  $800 and all those monthly expenses?  I've never even taken an Uber let alone driven one, but you must have arteries made of steel.

And dakinemaui 's response is pure gold.
