Just wanted to show my love to the ynab team for the loading screen phrase "Move dollarum leviosa". 😆🧙‍♀️

Do you have a favorite loading screen?

  • Please translate. I don't get it. I like the Battlestar Galactica mention. The remake was one of my all-time favorite series. Not sure how bears enter into it though.

    • Superbone Wingardium leviosa is a hover/flying spell from Harry Potter. If I remember correctly, it was the first actual magic the main characters got to practice after starting with all sorts of theory in the applicable class.

From the character development angle, Hermione got it to work first and made Ron feel bad about not getting his to work right away, despite him growing up in a magical family in contrast to her muggle heritage. Of course, this just played into the drama of the 11 year olds.

I wonder if rereading the series again will make me feel younger, or if it will just seem rather immature...

    • Superbone Move Light Sound Life Yes! Wingardium Leviosa was the levitation/moving object spell that Ron struggled to learn. Great Harry Potter ref.

I reread one of the books recently and enjoyed it. The premise is already such a departure from reality that I don't think it feels immature or dated.

The Battlestar Galactica one was good too! I think I remember seeing it a little while back.

    • The Artist Formerly Known As I've read the series 7 times forwards and twice backwards.  As I got older, the drama and interaction between the characters got a bit annoying, but I chalked that up to the characters being children/teens while I was realizing there are better (more mature) ways to interact with other people.  Maybe since I've gone past that stage of my life, it won't be as annoying. I've heard it said that one's faults, as seen in others, rankle the most. The rationale being that you're trying to purge them from yourself and don't like being so obviously reminded that they're affecting you by seeing them in others. We'll see how much I've grown up. I'm pretty sure I don't feel like throwing angst tantrums now. 😋

However, the fantastical setting and the struggle between good and evil is... timeless. I do think it was played out well in the series.

I am personally hoping for a LOTR reference in the loading screen. Bonus points if it's from the Silmarilion.

I like a lot of the phrases used, but of course I'm not familiar with some. I think the premise is great, though!

(And I can't remember some of my favorite ones from the past years, sorry!)

Ah, thanks! I think I started reading the first book to my kids many years ago but that's as far as I got. I've seen all the movies though. Once. 🙂

Move Light Sound Life there is a Harry Potter website where each chapter of the first book is read by different actors (mainly stage but some film including first chapter read by Daniel Radcliffe). I enjoyed it very much. Plus if you have kids there are lots of learning activities too. I think the site is www.wizardingworld.com.

Superbone I have one gone that way ( although he was back and forth this year between in class apprenticeship classes and covid19 kicked out from girlfriends parents basement). I needed Harry Potter to escape!

I think it was "Bears. Budgets. Battlestar Galactica."

OK, now I just googled it and it turns out it's from The Office (American) which I also loved (both versions). It's from the episode where Jim impersonates Dwight but it was originally, "Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica."

    • Superbone Ah I just watched that episode for the first time recently. So good.

I wouldn't mind a "so budget we all".

Turquoise Major Please remind me of where in Star Wars this comes from. Is it in the trench battle in the original?

    • The Artist Formerly Known As 😁 Credit goes to my mother, since I was overreacting to my siblings who somehow had the same bad habits that I was working on growing out of. Funny thing is that I legit don't remember acting like they did... Glad we're grown now. Mothers are good teachers. 😊
