Making goals more visible

I'd love to be able to see my goal amounts in a column like we have Budgeted, Activity, Available.

I'm interested in this information:

- Total Goal $$ Planned per Category (See the sum per section the same as we do for the other columns)

- Goal set per line item (I know we have the pie bubble)

This would help to understand how I'm planning my budget vs reality.  In my case, I'm managing two budgets. One is a good month ahead, so this feature doesn't matter for it. The other is accruing debt at the moment, and it's difficult to plan/adjust without this being more visible.

The "Toolkit for YNAB" Chrome extension adds this exact functionality (among many others).

You may also want to make a formal resist using the Feature Request form in the forum sidebar (I can't remember where to find it on mobile).

Vibrant Thanks! I'll take a look into it

  • Thanks for sharing this idea! So that the right people see it, I've just sent your thoughts to our Product Team. No need to submit a feature request on your own! ;)

  • I know this isn't exactly what you're asking for, but I only recently discovered you can get sidebar summaries at category level by checking the box (maybe this is obvious to everyone else??)

I find this really helpful for in-month information relating to goals, as the 'underfunded' row shows me at category level if I've budgeted enough to hit my goals.

I just thought this might be helpful, until YNAB build you want you want 🙂

  • Hi, Blue Rhythm

Here's a link to one of my previous posts showing how the toolkit can display a column of goal amounts just to the left of the budgeted column. I also explain which features in the toolkit I activated/used to get the display I currently use.
