How to delete a manually entered paycheck

I have watched some videos about how to use YNAB and one of them, if I recall correctly, said that we could enter our paycheck manually and if it ALSO comes through the linked checking account, that it will know that it's the same and not allow both to post.  However, I tried it, and now it's showing I have two paychecks, when I only have one.  I don't see a way to delete the manually entered paycheck.

  • Deleting a transaction on the web is under edit. In the android mobile, it's under the three dots.  Just make sure you have only selected the one you want to delete.

  • Are the amounts the same? You should be able to “match” the imported transaction to the manually entered one. This should happen automatically but if there is a difference in the amount or there is other information that doesn’t match up, it won’t.
see my screenshot. I selected 2 transactions and you can see at the bottom there is a match option. When you click that the 2 will be merged into one. Then click approve to accept the imported one.

  • There is a time limit to matching - they must be within 10 days of each other. So if you put your paycheck in manually dated January 1 and it's now January 11 and it finally went in, they won't match. Also if the amounts are different they won't match.

Tif_Ann If you're putting in your paycheck 10 days early, that's going to create all sorts of other issues.

nolesrule I'm very aware and don't. Just giving a reason he might be having issues with matching, as some unofficial videos out there will say to put it in early so you can projection budget.

Tif_Ann sorry, that comment wasn't meant to be specifically aimed at you. More of a general observation.

  • From the web browser, go to your transactions page and find your paycheck. Click on the box on the left of the transaction to check it ✔️ .  Right under the banner at the top of the page, find the edit button and click for a drop down menu.  The commands available for that particular transaction will be bold.  Click on delete.
