Banks with contactless debit, photo check import & works great with YNAB?
These are my banking requirements
- Contactless debit cards (I won't do credit cards)
- Photo check import via an app
- Works great with YNAB import
- edit - Nationwide ATM deposit or branches in Nashville, TN
My previous bank recently stopped importing into YNAB and they don't offer contactless debit cards.
Does anyone know of a bank that checks all
three four boxes?
"(I won't do credit cards)" - I'm guessing you're a Dave Ramsey disciple? You're missing out on a lot of perks. When used properly in YNAB, they are the same as cash.
I use Charles Schwab Investor Checking. However, the debit card isn't currently contactless. They also don't allow cash deposits but I keep my old credit union account around for that. No fees, no minimums, no foreign transaction fees, they refund all ATM fees at the end of each month.
For what you're looking for, you'll probably have to go with one of the major banks like Chase. I had them previously and they worked fine with YNAB. However, you've got to keep minimums to avoid fees with no decent interest rate to show for it.
Chase bank does all of this. I use them just as a place to deposit cash, basically I keep 2k in my account and let it sit there to avoid fees. What I don't like about them is a ton of random fees and krapy interest rates on savings. Ally for the win for my real banking, if you really want it though they can do it all for you.
- Contactless debit cards (I won't do credit cards) - yup
- Photo check import via an app - yup
- Works great with YNAB import - yup
- edit - Nationwide ATM deposit or branches in Nashville, TN - I think so, all over CA and OR

Guilty as charged. I believe disciplined budgeters are capable of using credit cards appropriately, but I teach the classes now and believe in the system. I'm willing to pass on the perks to be consistent with the material.

Thanks! I will check out Ally. I may take a look at Chase as well.
I don't love the giant banks. I park my emergency fund in Wealthfront but still subscribe to the old YNAB way "live on last month's income." So that should be enough to keep me above the minimums.
It's down to 1.25%
Ouch! I see that Wealthfront is down to a 0.35% interest rate.
Ally for the win! Thanks for the heads up on that. Looks like I'll be moving two accounts.
