Checking Account Transaction, Yet Credit Card Shows Overspending
Hello! For the second time in the past two months, I'm having issues with overspending when money has been properly budgeted. Today, I made a small purchase at Walmart for $4.50 (using my debit card/checking account). This shouldn't have presented an issue since I still had a bit over $7 allocated for groceries.
For some reason though, YNAB keeps adjusting my credit card balance whenever I enter this checking account transaction. My credit card goes from this:
Why is this happening? And how do I correct it? I've had this same issue before, and started a brand new budget since I couldn't figure out what was causing it. Please help!
One more thing... I've recently returned some holiday items, which were refunded to another credit card (not the one that's showing the overspending). Could this be causing the issue in YNAB? I'm so confused. The image below details the returns.
YNAB will prioritize cash spending over credit within a category that has both types if there is not enough to cover all charges. That's why the CC Payment is being shorted.
The obvious next question is why isn't there enough to cover all charges? That category certainly looks like it has enough.
By chance is there a return (inflow) in that category? Overspending may have been present before that inflow, and the latter doesn't seem to fix it as a budget entry would. It does, however turn the category green.
