TD Canada Trust EasyWeb

Hi there. Started a trial a few days ago and cannot linked most of my financial accounts, particularily my main account with TD Canada Trust EasyWeb. I can log into EasyWeb itself using the same credentials, no issue.

I am also unable to link my Equitable Bank account, and my PayPal account. The only bank account I have been able to link is one with Tangerine bank that I just opened and have not used yet.

I'm excited to start using YNAB, but that would require being able to link my accounts first :(

I have been trying  on Google Chrome, Firefox, Linux & OSX, Android App, for the past 5 days.

Any ideas?

  • Hello. I just started a trial of YNAB and as everyone is experiencing above, I cannot at my TD Accounts. This is a big barrier for me as I have many accounts with TD.

Can I get a bit more information on the status of the connection of YNAB with TD?

    Thanks!

  • Hi, I am probably your newest member - I just set up my YNAB account a few minutes ago and set up my trial subscription through iTunes. However, I likely am also will be your shortest subscribing member as I already want to put a stop to my subscription having just found out you do not support Linked TD Canada Trust accounts. This is a show stopper for me. Mint provides such support. Bottom line - I want to immediately cancel my subscription. Can you please explain exactly how I can immediately cancel my pending iTunes subscription. Within iTunes, it does not show any cancellation button but rather simply "pending". Do I need to complain to Apple to ensure it gets cancelled? Please advice. Very disappointed in my initial experience with your service - I was truly expecting more. Thanks.

  • Hi again, I was able to determine how to cancel my subscription in iTunes and I have now cancelled it. That is very unfortunate, as I was looking forward to giving YNAB a try. However, clearly your "import partner" is not up to the task as this unsupported linked TD Canada Trust account issue is now over a year old. It shouldn't take over a year to resolve this issue if indeed your 'import partner' was taking this issue seriously.

    • Hi Green Motherboard !

We're sorry to see you go but we understand if YNAB isn't what you're looking for at the moment.

To be completely upfront, data aggregation is imperfect. It's an unfortunate truth, but it's a truth nonetheless. It's expected that there will be bumps in the road, and while we do everything we possibly can to fix them as quickly as possible, it's just not something we have the power to eliminate (and trust me, we really wish we did).

Currently, all three of our import partners are having trouble supporting TD Bank. While we hope to see this resolved in the future, it has been our longest standing direct import issue and we just can't make any promises.

We hope you'll consider giving YNAB another try in the future! :)

  • After getting such a high recommendation for this product, its disappointing that it cannot handle one of the big 5 Canadian banks,  We are with TD too.  So let us know when you get your "import partner" sorted.

    • Hi Cornflower Blue Beat ! The real secret is the YNAB Method, and that works with or without a bank connection. 🙂 I sent you a few more details on the status of the TD Bank connection. We hope you'll give YNAB another try down the line!

We aren't able to suspend trials, but if you choose not to subscribe, your account will automatically be deleted according to our Data Retention Policy. I've added you to our list, so we'll reach out once we have any updated for TD! :)

    • Salmon Crab  I have also been wondering this. I've been waiting several months now since I've been added to the "list" but I use Mint all the time with no issues...

    • Hi Salmon Crab ! We've worked with three import partners since introducing Direct Import, and each one varies a bit when it comes to availability or connection stability. It's likely that Mint uses a different one.

I've added you to the list, and sent a message with a few more details. Let me know if you have any questions!

    • Well I recently saw a new budgeting app that already supports major banks. They use Plaid for their backend to connect to TD and it works flawlessly. https://plaid.com/

How come a fresh new one person team can create an app using plaid and offer connectivity to TD while YNAB cannot? TD is a big bank in Canada and a lot of people use it. Very frustrating.

    • Hi Coral Grizzly !

Are you sure the new budgeting app uses Plaid? Plaid is our newest import partner (they acquired our previous import partner over the last few months), but they're still reporting the issue with TD Bank as a long term issue. The new budgeting app is most likely having an issue with TD Bank, as well. If not, that's great news and we should start to see progress on our end, too! :)

    • Faness that’s very interesting. The new app is “lunchmoney” and they use plaid only. And my TD transactions are being imported flawlessly.

This is exciting because if you use Plaid, can you enable TD on my account so I can test it out? I’d love to help.

    • Hi Coral Grizzly ! Currently your account is connected with Plaid. I double checked, and TD remains unavailable at this time. Their status on the issue was last updated nine days ago, and they are continuing to work directly with TD to rebuild the integration.

Would you mind letting me know the website for "lunchmoney"? I'd love to dig in a bit more.

    • Nicole The website is https://lunchmoney.cc/
When I click on "Auto import from my bank" in lunchmoney, it is definitely a Plaid connection dialog box. I've attached the screenshot below.

Just to make sure, we're not talking about TD Bank's US website, we're using the TD Canada Trust (https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/)

Screenshot from lunchmoney.cc is here which successfully linked my TD Canada Trust and imported all transactions and continue to sync each day (I checked today).

Also, they specially mention it's Plaid in their post in

Let me know if I can help in any other way. Things are starting to look encouraging.

    • Coral Grizzly I checked in with our direct import team and I don't have the best news, but there's news! Since Plaid recently acquired Quovo, our import partner, we're somewhat in the middle as things are fully brought up to date. We aren't currently able to use all of Plaid's connections, since they weren't our original partner, but they're working on it! We now know the parts are there, we just have to get them in working order. Hopefully, this means a solution is around the corner, but it's still being listed as a long term issue.

  • Hello, I also have most of my accounts with TD Canada Trust.  Was really excited to try YNAB.  Is it possible to pause my trial until/unless TD becomes available for linking accounts?

    • Ken Flow We don't have the option to pause the trial, but would be happy to restart it for you when you're ready to give it another spin. 🙂

  • To all of you having trouble with TD importing, that was me in July during the trial. I am now 3.5 months into using YNAB without any integration and it really is amazing software without the integration. I am now hyper-aware of my spending and transactions by manually entering transactions, then reconciling them myself. It isn't very hard.

I will use YNAB on my iPad and look at TD on my phone to quickly check the little green circles, or just my iPhone. Or I will open YNAB on my Mac & tabs for my TD chequing/VISA, and BMO MSCD. It doesn't take very long, even after a busy weekend spending. Then I can do the reconciliation, and send off a payment to the cards & record the payment. Jesse has a Podcast on using the software without integration and his positive comments resonated with me, like yeah it's easy & I am in control.

My CCs are now now completely paid regularly instead of doing the credit card float & shuffle with savings to pay them, often late. Now I know the money is there and I pay them every week or less. I use them for points instead of them using me for interest! And I have less paper lying around, since once I've entered a transaction, I can throw the paper away or file important receipts.

If you're on the fence about using YNAB because of the integration, don't fret since this software & education programming will help you become so aware of your finances & goals. It's worth the fee. I'm in control for the first time in my life after using spreadsheets, envelopes, and good intentions. 😄❤️YNAB
