Change in Credit Card summary
I noticed a change today in the credit card summary pane in Budget view. Previously, it used to show whether I had budgeted enough money to pay off the accumulated spending, and would show a $0.00 owed if the budgeting matched the spending.
Now, it shows the "credit spending since last payment" and how much is budgeted for payment. I really liked the older style summary, since I often found that I missed budgeting for transactions for the previous month, when doing reconciliation at the very beginning of the month.
Can any one suggest any tips for making sure the budgeted amount reflects the total credit card spending?

A quick check to see if the amount in the payments category equals the total due on the card. If those two numbers don’t match you’ll need to dig for overspending.

This was a recent change in our latest update. We're currently taking feedback on whether that line was necessary, so thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I'll pass this along to our development team! :)
In the meantime, the easiest way to check to make sure there's enough to cover your credit card balance, is to compare your credit card balance to your credit card category available amount - as satcook mentioned.

Faness Please put me down for a DISLIKE of the new approach. I now have to compare all digits of two numbers that are not even next to each other, vs. looking at a single $0 indication.

Faness I also dislike this change. I think it should be made more obvious, not less, when I am adding debt to a credit card.
Since I pay my credit cards in full each month & am not on the float, adding debt to one would be a sign of a major problem somewhere in my budget. If I ever had to add debt to a card, I want to know it's there and whether it is going up or down.

Faness I also think this was a bad move. I had to figure out which 2 places to look to see what the delta was (knowing there was a delta, but the summary told me everything was great). Then I needed to pull out a calculator to figure out the delta so I could hunt down the issue. This was all available in the previous summary. If I were to just believe the summary as it is now, I could start carrying a monthly balance. This information should not be hidden.

Faness Please also add me to the list of people that do not like this change - it was so much easier to make sure I was paying off the float I have accumulated when I could see this broken out before.

An additional option is to use the Toolkit Extension which adds the ability to color the CC Payment category yellow as a warning if it doesn't match the account.

Not a good change at all. Made tracking overspending even worse.

Agreed that this does not seem to be a net positive. Less useful information available to the user and the only benefit I can think of is that it reduces content on the page? I definitely would vote to bring that information back.

I'm adding to my dislike of the change. A large part of UX is less work for the user. Having to look at one part of the screen, then look at the far side of the screen to compare is more work than the previous method of having it all in one place. Please change it back.

Nicole at YNAB Another reason this is needed: it's currently vital for carrying a reimbursement over a month boundary. Since the overspending in the register header disappears at the end of the month, you lose the insight into the number of the reimbursement you're carrying.
Now, another option would be to make good on that promise Jesse made three years ago to improve the reimbursement handling, but in the meantime, bringing that number back is very important. -
WordTenor has it been 3 years? I distinctly remember when he said it. He sounded quite confident that this new feature would satisfy a lot of the hold outs like me. And here I sit twiddling my thumbs in anticipation three years later.

jenmas February 2016. It is Mind. Boggling. how little has been fixed in the web app in the span of time it took them to build YNAB 4 after YNAB 3, and the web app after YNAB 4. Three years is a major release interval, and the fix for SFTF hasn't even been perfected to the point where it is reasonable to make it live.
I appreciate the ease of direct import, but it was not worth this.

Sent in feedback via the feature request form. I'm not necessarily against the change... but at least in my opinion, the inspector really should show something that breaks down amount available for payment vs. total debt. For those who pay in full, it's a quick way to confirm there is no overspending and make sure you're on track. Maybe make it a line graph instead (like the other graphs in the Payment section), available vs. debt? Making it visual rather than just text might help, especially new users who are just getting started and perhaps haven't budgeted for pre-YNAB credit card debt yet.

I've changed by credit cards to checking accounts to avoid this issue.

I too am missing the old view. I just came online to figure out if I was loosing my mind because it was nice to see where I was since we still are repairing our credit card float. We are within a few hundred dollars, but now the number is not visible to me. ☹️

Just would like to add to the others dislikes for this loss of feature. I had finally caught up with things in November before falling behind due to Christmas. I was confused when I couldn't see how far behind I was until I had to do some manual calculations to figure out what I would need to budget to get back to square when previously it was displayed for us.
I'd like to see it changed back to the way it was.
