How does everyone deal with the need to constantly enter the one time code to sync CC?
I am wondering how does everyone deal with constantly needing to enter a onetime code to import their credit card transactions. I personally find it very frustrating. What makes it worse is that I have two different credit card companies and two different budgets. So that means I have to enter 3 different codes, every time I log into YNAB. It is different from having to enter the password, because that stays constant and I have it saved in my password manager.
Support said they cant do anything about it because it of their Direct Connection. While it is probably true that they cant do anything due to their connection type, but this doesn't mean that they cant solve the issue. I know this, because I have used other budgeting software that does not suffer from the same re-authentication "issue" This probably will require YNAB to change they way they connect with the banks.
I think it will be a good idea to place some user pressure on YNAB.
Hi Pink Stallion !
Sorry for the inconvenience here! I know having to reauthenticate your account frequently isn't the best experience, but it's your bank's way of keeping your account safe. Not all banks have this requirement and, in some cases, we’ve found those will slowly start to subside, but we can’t guarantee it since each connection is unique.
We’re hopeful this will improve but, right now (and for the foreseeable future), it is expected.Reply
I'm looking at it as security is being tightened on accounts. With all the hacking stories, I'm glad my institutions are tightening up security. It is a minor inconvenience when YNAB can't connect because I rely mostly on manual entry.
Some accounts "glitch" more often than others, and most do at some point. It's not a big deal for me. There are many who don't have the direct connect option and work their budgets, even better than most. Just reconcile with your institution often and everything will be fine.
YNAB is doing the best they can, and things are changing.Reply
