YNAB, help me pick a bank that doesn't suck at technology.

I've got my bank account / credit card with Capital One, but they just made YNAB import really hard in perpetuity by requiring me to authenticate every time YNAB grabs my data. This is ridiculous because YNAB was a using an access code that only gave "access" to my info, not control over my money. Since my heart is forever connected to YNAB, I'm going to ditch Capital One.

Can you recommend a few banks that interface well with YNAB? I looked at the connection status page, but that only has the last 24 hours of data, which basically just tells me if something's broken right now. I want to pick a bank based solely on how well it connects to YNAB. Are there a top few that pretty much always work and don't break?

  • Hi Spring Green Lion !

Sorry for the trouble you're having with Capital One, but thank you for sticking with us! We don't partner with any specific banks, so there aren't any that we can recommend or guarantee won't have trouble going forward. All banks make changes at some point to improve security, and we can't predict how those changes will affect direct import. If there's a certain bank you're considering, I'd be more than happy to take a look at our incident history to see if there's been any recent or long-lasting issues with that financial institution. While that doesn't guarantee there won't be issues moving forward, I hope it can offer some assurance. :)

  • I've had very few problems with Bank of America(checking and savings) and Citibank(credit cards)
