Can't find YNAB Classic in App Store?
I'm still using YNAB4 and just wanted to reinstall the app but I no longer can find it in the app store (Apple app store). I still can find a link to it on google but it says it is no longer available under that link. It is still in the play store (Google). Has it been removed on purpose in the App store or was this an error?

Hello! Just like most others on this thread, I would also love a copy of the Android version of the YNAB classic app. I've been using YNAB for many years, but I just switched from an iPhone to a Sony, and I'd really like to get my budget back on my phone. Thank you!

Here is a link to download the APK file, so you just need to open this message on your Android device, download the file, and YNAB Classic should be installed for you.

I still hate the migration to the new subscription version. The last thing I need is another monthly bill. I'm still using my YNAB 4 for now but unfortunately, as Apple continues to update their OS over time, I don't think I'll be able to use my YNAB 4 anymore. I received the notification when I signed in today. Sad to say but when I can't use my YNAB 4 anymore I'll be shopping around for a comparable free budget system. I purchased my YNAB in 2015. I shouldn't have to "purchase" it again.

bevocat With so many customers dedicated to YNAB 4, you would think the company would offer BOTH options. I paid $60 for mine and they would actually make more money by offering both and continuing with the necessary updates for the desktop version.

Bought YNAB Classic in 2015; full price $60. YNAB Classic stopped support in 2016. Kind of a jerk move to deprecate their original model after less than a year of use. Now YNAB has the nerve to make me pay monthly to use the software I already purchased outright?
Original software was advertised with having full iOS app support, but that is not true. I get it, the software model was changed. I don't want updates. I just want access to the original; the one I purchased.

Sorry for the trouble! We aren't able to bypass the iOS system to force a download outside of the app store. If you previously downloaded the YNAB Classic app, it should be in your previously downloaded apps so that you still have access.

Faness can you clarify whether you or Apple chose to remove it from the Apple Store? I didn’t think apple would investigate your app as far as recognizing it was for the YNAB 4 Classic version and request that your no longer publish it to the App Store, but I could be wrong. It sounds to me like YNAB chooses to no longer put it in the App Store. But you’re saying Apple says because you no longer sell the Desktop App you can’t put the app in the App Store?

a_different_joel Sorry for the confusion! I was informed that we aren't able to add and remove YNAB Classic from the app store at leisure. I want to be clear this change was not initiated by Apple. We initially removed it because of confusion with the newer version of YNAB and issues with support of the app itself. However, since the app has now been removed from the App Store, we have no other way to get the app to iOS users - unless it was previously downloaded.

Faness Im having the same issues here. I have been a long time user of YNAB 4 when it initially was released and now I am unable to have my fiance download the app to allow her to use YNAB. To be honest, I love YNAB, but this is a ridiculous issue that no paying customers (especially loyal long term use customers) should have to deal with. If theres not a solution to this, then unfortunately Im going to have to take my business elsewhere.

Slate Blue Horn I truly apologize for the inconvenience. While we can still offer the YNAB Classic Android app for download, because we can send the file directly, that isn't an option for iOS users. Are you able to access your iTunes account from your fiance's device? If so, you could then access your previously downloaded apps to place YNAB Classic on her mobile device. Outside of that work around, I'm not sure there's anyway for your fiance to access the app.

Any company that forces their paying customers to pay again under a different business model is a company I don't want to use.

Slate Gray Lion YNAB 4 will work for as long as your computer supports it, and if you have already downloaded the YNAB Classic app it will remain available, so we don't want you to feel forced into using the newer version of YNAB. As long as YNAB 4 meets your needs, we're more than happy to offer customer support for any questions you have, but we no longer offer support for the app itself.

Turquoise Falafel YNAB Classic app, no longer available in Google Play Store, is the only app that works with YNAB 4. This is the app that has been linked to in this thread.

Turquoise Falafel Jenmas is exactly right. The v5.9 app is for the newer, online only version of YNAB. You'll need to download the classic app here to work with YNAB 4 on your Android device.

Sorry for the trouble! Purchasing YNAB 4 didn't automatically download the app to your mobile device. If you previously had the app on iOS, it should be in your previous purchases. If you aren't seeing it there, even though you downloaded it previously, you can reach out to Apple for assistance. If you've never downloaded the iOS app from the App Store, there isn't a way to access it.

There is a way to get the classic app on a new / other iPhone using apple family share because you can share purchased / downloaded apps from another family member.
My wife uses YNAB classic on her iPhone and I was on an Android. Below are the steps I followed to get YNAB classic installed in my new iPhone.
The caveat is that If you have apple family share turned on AND someone in your family previously downloaded the classic YNAB iOS app THEN you can:
1) open App Store on phone needing YNAB
2) Tap on your icon to get to your account
3) click on purchases
4) click on family member who previously downloaded YNAB classic
5) find YNAB classic in your family member’s app list
6) click on the cloud icon next to YNAB classic app to download
7) start YNAB classic and click already set up on desktop link to Dropbox

If you have previously sideloaded a version of YNAB, you may not be able to upgrade through the Google Play Store. Instead, here’s a link to the latest APK. :)

Faness Thanks for thissss!!!!! You are a lifesaver :) I'm literally never letting this app go. I can't tell you how happy I am to have it. One note. All of the YNAB pages still point to there being an app available and there's no declaration/explanation of it having been pulled. This may require update to avoid some of this confusion, tho I'm sure it's underway.

I wanted to pin this comment to hopefully help newcomers! :)
Since we ended sales for YNAB Classic, the mobile app is no longer available for download in the Play Store. If you have downloaded the app in the past, you should be able to access it for redownload, but you will need to go to your history to redownload the app, as it won’t appear in Play Store searches.
If you haven’t ever downloaded the YNAB Classic app, we do have an APK of the app that you can side load to your Android device. Here is a link to download the APK file, so you just need to open this message on your Android device and download the file, and YNAB Classic should be installed for you.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to provide an alternative download for iOS if you haven't downloaded the YNAB Classic app before, but this would be a great time to give our newest version of YNAB a try! Take advantage of our free trial to see if it is right for you. :)
