More Reports in Mobile App

Hey there! I was wondering if there are any plans to bring some more reports to the iPhone app? Specifically I’d love to see the spending trends report, as well as a net income per month type report.

  • Hey Magenta Wildcat !

This actually comes up in both directions—folks who want to bring the Net Worth report to the web as well. There are no specific plans, in the sense of adding particular reports at particular times. But I can definitely say that we talk a lot about how to help people measure progress.

Can I ask—would you say that you primarily use the mobile app?

Todd thanks for the reply! Yes, exactly - I primarily use the mobile app, and I’d love to see some of those reports without having to sign into the web.

Specifically I’d like to see a “net income” type bar graph so I can see how my overall income vs expense stacks up this month against previous months (and ideally against an average). I find that graphs like that encourage me to spend less - I want this month’s bar to be higher than last month’s!

For context, I just switched to YNAB and absolutely love it. This is the only thing I find missing from the mobile app that I really liked in the system I moved away from.

    • Todd Is it possible, to use the web version if the iPad app is installed? I‘m missing some reports so badly since the iPad is my primary device. Tapping on the „Login“ button in Safari opens the iPad app.

Ivory Packet (07b7ab5c2912) There is a way to have the mobile version shown on ipad. When opening the login page, press the page with arrow up button - it will give you the option of "request desktop version of site". Upside is, you can access it. Downside is, the page will be partly cut of as the layout is not really intended for that device. I use it every once in a while if I am on the road and want to look at the reports.

Overall, I would love to see more reports coming to the mobile version.

Tapwater  When I attempt to log in with the web browser on my ipad it automatically jumps to the app login.  Is there a way to log in to the web version on an ipad?  I did not find the arrow up button you referred to a year ago.

    • Hi reina !

Since mobile browsers aren't meant to support the YNAB web app, most of them reroute to the mobile app automatically. Some browsers allow for the 'Request Desktop Version' option, but not all. Tapwater might have found a work around, but I wanted to let you know that it might not work for all devices.

  • That sounds like a useful addition. I also primarily use the mobile app day to day, but I find both reports useful (desktop/mobile) motivate me and give me better insight into my spending. Give us more reports please :)

  • I use both the web and app versions. The web version is for the main admin and sometimes I use it for day-to-day budgeting as well if I happen to be on the laptop at the time. However, I often just use the iOS app when I don't want to go and lug out the laptop, and it would be nice to have some of the spending stats in report form on the iPad - this would be very useful. At present there is a "Reports" button on the mobile apps that is just taking up space as I find the net worth and age of money reports to be not that useful.

  • I'd also love to see the spending reports in the mobile version.  My husband is not enthusiastic about YNAB and says he misses the "couch conversations" we used to have with Mint, where we'd look at our spending graphs on the iPad while snuggling on the couch.

  • Add me to the list.  Actually, I’d like to see more reporting on both the IOS App and the web version.

    • Hi Violet Stallion !

Do you mean the mobile app isn't working? If so, can you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app to see if that fixes the issue you're running into?

Let me know and we'll go from there!

  • I would also like to be able to see spending trends by category in the iPad app.  I use a computer at work and can get the reports there but my husband and I primarily use the iPad at home.  I could have more meaningful conversations with him if I could get reports on the app or at least be able to login to the website.  I was getting frustrated that logging into the ynab website boots you to the app when it can handle the web version.
