Some really good stuff in today's web release

To quote from today's release notes...

"Hefty new thing number one: rejoice, for you can now bulk edit flags. Hefty new thing number two: after importing new transactions into your register you’ll find a handy “Approve All” option in the edit menu. Selecting each individual transaction is no longer required! Finally, hefty new thing number three: Manage Payees is now equipped with a search bar. Finding your desired payee has never been easier."

Please let us know how these features are working for you!

  • Payee Search bar!  YAY!   Something I've been waiting for a long time to have.

Approve all...  Also yay! -- I'll have to see how it works, but potentially very cool.

Bulk edit flags.... cool... -- For those who need it.

I just used Approve All. I started hooking up my accounts now that Capital One works. 👍

Does the Approve All also cancel the filter created by clicking on the "4 transactions to import"? I've asked for that a lot of times over the several years of nYNAB.

casner Nope, just tested it with 5 transactions needing approval. Result is i'm looking at an empty transaction register with the filter still applied.

  • Ok I'm having an issue.  I select 3 transactions to Approve All, which I've always done with a right-click, and I don't even remember if that's a toolkit thing or what.  Sometimes I use the pull down menu.  Anyway, when I'm done and they're still selected I click the little blue minus checkbox at the top to deselect all.  Now it selects all instead, and then I have to click it again to deselect all.

This was mentioned in the release notes I skimmed the other day as a feature and it's super ugly and annoying.  Am I missing something?

Annieland With the new approve all, you don't have to select anything, it just does it for you.  All the transactions that are sitting waiting for you to approve them will be approved when you select the Approve All option.

Bruce Ok and then how do I unselect all?  Can't seem to do it in one click.  Annoying.

Annieland  Yes, well, that's a different issue.  And I'm not disagreeing with you.  In fact, I kinda miss the "wrong" way it used to do it as well.  It was very simple, and even though it took me a while to realize what it was doing, once I got used to it, I liked it.

My answer above was simply that you don't "have to" select anything, if you're using the new Approve All option.  But in other scenarios where you have several transactions selected, it does indeed now take 2 clicks of the top button instead of only 1 to remove all selected options.

Bruce Ok, just making sure I wasn't doing something wrong :).  Good grief, though.

Annieland Agreed! That change is really annoying. I don't see the reason for it, as Select All is an almost never desired outcome.

    • casner  Yes.  I came to complain as well.  😒 Why would I want to select all after I'm done selecting what I want?  I want to clear them in one click, like it used to be.

Move Light Sound Life  The one that bugs me is on iOS where after I’ve accepted all imports, I’m left with an empty dialog from which I have to choose “Done”. What else am I going to do in there? Just close it already.
