Over Spent - will not correct?

I have a bill that was .13¢ more than I put in the 'envelope'.  It's showing I am  -.13¢.  I then change the ASSIGNED amount to be $131.13.

I feel like it should ask me where I want to take that 13¢ from.

It doesn't...it stays at 'All Money Assigned'

  • Hi there, Dutch !

Did you have money in Ready to Assign before you added the extra 13¢ or was there $0.00 left to Assign? If there wasn't any money left to assign, you'll want to double check the last month in which you've assigned money and reduce what you've assigned by 13¢ in that month.

Marisa HUM?  Well, there isn't anything negative on July.

I could take .13 out of another envelope and then have .13 to assign.  Which is what I ended up doing.

At first I just did added .13 to the assigned amount, in this case it was $131.00 and I made it $131.13...nothing happened to the All Money Assigned box.  I assumed it would ask me where I wanted to take the .13 from?

    • Dutch YNAB will not prevent you from over-assigning money. So if you had all your money assigned and corrected the overspending by adding $.13 to the category, YNAB will take that $.13 out of ready to assign in the future-most month you've assigned money in.

If you want to move the money from a different category, then you want to use the move money function. The easiest way to do that for overspending is to click on the overspent category's available amount, at which point it will ask which category you want to use to cover the overspending.
