Returning to YNAB after a few years.... same problems....
Trying YNAB again after 3 or 4 years of absence, and I am unable to import transactions.
The account balances will import, but not the transactions. (CiTi Banks, Chase and ICCU).
This is why I stopped using this SW years ago... Its this feature still flaky / non-functional or is this just bad timing on my part?
I see LOTS of posts about this in here.....
Import issues really seem to depend on the bank, unfortunately. Though I will say Chase has been pretty rock-solid for me over the past year.
How long ago did you create your YNAB account? Since YNAB looks forward, not back, it'll pull in your current balance and then only import going forward (in general, cleared transactions that you've made after setting up YNAB). It won't look backward, importing past transactions from before you started using YNAB.
Note that transactions will be imported within about 12 hours of them clearing at your bank, so there is a delay -- it won't be instant after you spend money., and these transactions won't just show up in YNAB -- you'll need to click the Import button to pull them into your account.
YNAB generally recommends that you enter transactions manually as much as possible (especially at the time of purchase using the mobile apps), then use import to help catch transactions that you missed, mistakes, etc. While some do use import as the prime method of transaction entry, YNAB generally believes that the manual effort involved with adding transactions increases your overall awareness of your financial situation and improves your financial decision-making.
