Starting from overdraft

Im a newbie and can't figure out where to start.  Can i enter a negative balance?  If not do I have to start from my last paycheck?  I am finding this very confusing and would appreciate any help.  I did read the help document.

  • YNAB Support Article: Starting in Overdraft

Overdraft was recently discussed in this thread here and here.

Welcome, MEC .  I know from past experience that overdraft is a terrible place to dig out from, and YNAB can help you stay on track with your spending plan to get you out faster.  Good luck.

  • Hi MEC !

HappyDance beat me to the helpful links here! The Help Doc goes over how to get things set up and I strongly urge you to take the workshop if you have a moment to spare. :)

Even if your account is currently in the red, getting organized is a great start to preventing that from happening in the future! Use the Scheduled Transactions and the Goals features to plan for your upcoming expenses - such as utilities, rent, etc. Keeping an eye on what's upcoming and what you need to cover will help you set aside your funds to help climb your way out of overdraft.

I know it can be a daunting task but you can do it! We're here to help so don't hesitate to ask any questions! :)
