Regions bank not an account option

Why isn't regions coming up when I search to add an account? The only one that comes up is Regions Mortgage.

  • Hi Tomato Moose !

Sorry for the trouble! Our Direct Import partners are working on repairing the connection to Regions. They've let us know this could possibly be a long term issue, so they've removed Regions as an option for the time being. They're hoping to repair the connection and then re-add Regions as an option but that could take some time.

  • Hi Faness,

Can you give us an estimate of what "long term" could look like? Are we talking weeks or years here? Is this something that's changed on Regions's end?

    Thanks.

Powder Blue Network We don't have an exact timeline, but I do have a bit more information on what happened! In fact, here is what our Direct Import partner said exactly:

"Regions Bank connections have been encountering reduced stability due to a server-side change made by Regions Bank.  As a result, we are currently unable to connect accounts and have made the institution unavailable.

However, Quovo's Partnership team has contacted Regions Bank to resolve the issue."

I'll reach out from help@ynab.com and get you on that contact list for when we hear anything back. 😊

  • I wish I would have researched or found out about this before downloading and using my free month. I’ll be discontinuing my service now. The goal was not to have to do so much manual imput to start the budgeting process.

    • Hi Maroon Cornet !

We're sorry to see you go but we understand your decision. We truly believe YNAB is more than worth the subscription, even without direct import, but we understand if that's not what you're looking for. File Based Importing is a good alternative and it's easier than it sounds! However, if you do decide to part ways for now, we hope you'll give YNAB another spin once Regions is back up and running! :)

    • Blue Barnacle That's one of the supported file types! Instead of double-clicking that file to open it, drag and drop it into YNAB.  :)

  • This sucks. Pressure them. "Regions Bank, operates 1,906 automated teller machines and 1,527 branches in 15 states in the Southern United States and Midwestern United States."👺

  • Is there a way to be notified when this is turned back on? Our two primary institutions (Wells Fargo and Regions) appear to be not working right now, so although I'd like to jump in with both feet into YNAB, this is slowing me down. This is especially true because I already have my own zero-based budgeting tracking system, so my subscription is purely for efficiency. Although I'm sure the file import works, I was trying to get away from needing to login to each institution in order to update my budget categories each day.

Sorry for the trouble! Our Direct Import partner let us know this is going to be a long term issue. They aren't able to give us a time frame for just how long, but we'd be more than happy to reset your trial at that time! :)

    • Hi Orchid Projector ! I hope you don't mind me stepping in for Faness here. Regions made some server-side changes, and as a result—our Direct Import partner is unable to make a successful connection.

They're working with Regions, to resolve the issue, and aren't able to give us a time frame for how long that might take. Sorry we don't have better news there!

  • Three months without a connection to a major bank is really not acceptable. I am a yearly subscriber, and this connection went dead almost soon as I paid for the year. You are being awfully nice about it, and I appreciate that, but courtesy does not make up for the technical failure. I am paying for a service, one whose approach and culture I do like and wish to continue with, but I am paying for a service nonetheless, when there are other budgeting solutions that offer that service for free, together with working connections to the banks we use.

I realize that the technical problem is ultimately Regions' fault -- but as I said, other free budgeting services offer working connections to Regions Bank. If Quovo cannot work with Regions to get this fixed -- and I see no sign that any progress is being made -- then I would strongly suggest that you need a new direct import partner, as they are not doing what we are paying for.

    • Hi Joseph Richardson !

I see that you spoke to Alicia earlier this year, for a little more technical background on this issue with Regions. I know connection issues are frustrating, and we do apologize for the trouble.

We are actively working to make this less of a pain point for users (and for us too, since we're all YNABers ourselves!). We're on our third Direct Import partner (Quovo) because we do want to provide this as a dependable feature.

At this time, we have been told it will be a difficult and time-intensive to resolve this issue with Regions, and Quovo is working directly with them on a solution. We'll reach out via email as soon as we have good news to share!

  • I'm also really sad about this. I just started my 34 day trial and can't connect with Regions. I've had no issues using Regions with other companies like Mint, Acorns, etc, so I am disappointed. I was really looking forward to using YNAB since I've heard so many great things. I hope this manages to get resolved soon. I could open a bank account with another company, but that's a lot of effort just to use a new budgeting software that should work.

I guess add me to the mailing list for when this gets fixed =/

    • Hi Xenostar !

I'm sorry we don't have better news here! Our Direct Import partner isn't able to give us a timeline on a fix for Regions. They've let us know they don't plan to give up on restoring the connection, but it will most likely be a longterm issue.

I've sent you an email with a few more details. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

  • Another Regions Bank customer. I love YNAB, but I'll be honest - using the manual direct import is kind of a pain. It works, but the whole point of getting YNAB for me was to avoid the busywork of a manual budget using old school spreadsheets or software like Quicken. I'd appreciate getting put on the mailing list for updates.

On the bright side, I like YNAB so much I am tempted to switch banks just so I can use the account linking function again. I guess that shows how good the base software is!
