What to do at Year End?
I started using YNAB on 1/1/17, and am wondering whether I should make a "fresh start" on 1/1/18? Anybody got thoughts on advantages/disadvantages, from either a budgeting perspective or a technical one?
Only reason to start a fresh budget would be if you planned to do a major overhaul to your categories. Otherwise you no longer have all of the data in one place to be able to analyze trends and for the quick budget options to calculate quick budget values. Not to mention you then have to repopulate all the values in your new budget for all your Rule 2 and long-term categories from the old budget.
I've been using the same budget since April 2014.
I have been using the same budget since late 2013 but do plan on a fresh start in 2018. I have several hidden categories and closed accounts I want to get rid of, also I have noticed that I have so many transactions that nYNAB takes a while to load and jump to specific transactions when selecting them from the budget screen.
