Medical bills and crossed wires
Last week I called financial services at a hospital where we owe about $400 and worked out a payment plan with them. They were nice as could be and very flexible. I made my first payment while on the phone with them. Yesterday we got a collection notice saying the hospital had turned our bill over to them. I assume we all just got wires crossed, but how on earth do I get this untangled now, especially since the money I paid last week is not reflected in the collection agency bill?

Sorry for the delay in response! I know things may be hard with holiday hours, but I suggest calling the hospital back when you get the chance. It's possible they sent the account to collections before getting your phone call, so the collection agency was already in the process of contacting you when you made your payment to the hospital.
If you call them, they should be able to iron things out (or at least direct you on how to get things ironed out). :)
