Celebrating 34 Days!
My 34-day YNAB free trial ends tomorrow and so begins my first official year.
I have never before been so ecstatic to pay for something in my life!
In the past month, I have:
Stopped spontaneous spending. I just moved into a new house so, of course, I'm excited to decorate, but not without checking my home improvement budget first. I have made the choice to move money from clothing and other categories to cover home purchases, but YNAB makes me think before I spend. I've also said "No!" to myself when I didn't have the money in my budget to cover it. The cake cloche and porcelain tea set will just have to wait :P
Made a debt-free plan. I've been in debt for the past three years. Now I actually have a reasonable plan to pay it off. No more saying, "Sure, I can take care of that in the next few months." Now I'm already 18% there, I've stopped putting things on credit cards, I'm confident I won't accumulate new debt thanks to YNAB, and I've got a realistic plan to be debt-free by the end of 2021!
SAVED MONEY! I've hit my first milestone on the way to building my emergency savings and I'm saving to cover future taxes. I'm self-employed, and that's something I've always tried to be better at, but this year I'm actually doing it. No more insane interest rates, I'll just pay it and be done with it.
Thank you, YNAB, for giving me the tools I need to get on the path to real financial maturity and confidence. I am so looking forward to the next 12 months! :D
