Add up transactions in Account Column

Hi.  It's time to do my tax and I want to be able to add up all the transactions in my account view after searching for something such as purple flags(!)  Is there an easy way to do this?

I can't see anything in Toolkit that would work.   All I get is a running balance of my account.

  • Run your search in the account view (or all accounts depending on what you're looking for) and then tick the top checkbox next to the i in a circle and the flag. That will give you a total for all in the header. If you only want specific items after your search then you'll need to untick the top checkbox and tick the individual transactions you want to sum.

  • Thanks for your speedy response!  I must be missing something.  I am in account view and have all my purple flags listed.  I can't find the i in a circle next to the flag....   I have "Add Transaction"- "Link account" - "File import" - "Edit" - "Undo" all listed at the top of my account view.  I must be missing something!!!

      Martin Butler Ah! Let me turn off the Toolkit and check if that's a native nYNAB option.

      Martin Butler Ignore the bit about the i in a circle, that comes and goes depending on if you have transactions to approve. You're looking for the checkbox in Monkeyhanger's screenshot.

      Yes, ignore the i, it's the checkbox that you need and it's in the same location whether the i is there or not.

      As a side note, I've never noticed the i before and just had to do a bit of digging around in my budget to see what it related to. I had a few scheduled transactions enter the register today. Once I approved them, the i went away.

  • That's weird.  I don't have that showing between the checkbox and flag below the "Add Transaction".  I'm assuming that you are in "All Accounts" but even that doesn't have it.  Is it a part of Toolkit?

      Martin Butler That's with the Toolkit turned off and yes it's in All Accounts. I've looked at the individual accounts and some of them have the i and some don't but they all have the checkbox and flag. Can you do a screenshot of what you see?

    • Martin Butler If you're not seeing the top checkbox you can use to Select All, I suggest bringing YNAB up in a private/incognito window to see if you can see it there.

      • If you can see the checkbox in a private window, it might be an issue with an extension. You could try turning them off one by one to see if that solves the issue.
