Remaining To Be Budgeted in previous month despite deficit in current month
I have rolled into a new month, and budgeted out my monthly expenditures.
I recently checked my accounts however and noticed that my debit account was not correctly reconciled with my debit account on YNAB. After checking through the imports, I could not understand why they were not equal.
The second red flag was that the previous month had a large sum remaining to be budgeted, and was not rolling over into the current month.
I've been staring through all transactions over the past two months to no avail and presume I must have moved money during budgeting that has caused this confusion.
After placing in a reconciliation, my current month is now in deficit. After correcting for this deficit within my budget, this seems to have moved even more money into the previous month's to be budgeted section.
Of note: when I attempt to budget said previous month, it shows up as further increased deficit for the current month.
Hello, Silver Android !
The reason you're seeing a higher To be Budgeted is because of that reconciliation adjustment, which affects To be Budgeted directly. So the bad news is that positive amount you're seeing in August doesn't really exist—it's already been adjusted.
Once you've gotten To be Budgeted to zero in September, your job is done—you don't need to (and can't) fix August, because it's already over.
