Why approve a scheduled transaction?

What is the purpose of approving a scheduled transaction if it has not yet imported from the bank?

If I mark it approved, I have no way of seeing which transactions have not yet imported.

  • Not everyone either can or wants to use bank sync, and some of us use the recurring scheduled transactions to enter numerous types of anticipated transactions that may or may not actually occur or that may not occur on that specific date.

  • Yes, you do. You leave it uncleared until it is, ahem, cleared. 馃檪Plus, when it imports, it will match with the existing transaction. If it doesn't for some reason, like the actual amount differs slightly, then select both and select Match.

  • I don't approve scheduled transactions when they go live. I just wait until reconciliation, because that will approve, clear, and lock them all at once.

Some people will leave the amounts blank in the scheduled transactions because they may not know the amount and use the scheduler as a reminder system to go figure out what the amount needs to be and manually make a payment. Approval would seem to make more sense in such a workflow.
