Giveaway!

Hello, YNABers! We're hoping to get more folks to join the forum, so we're doing a little giveaway! We'll be sending a t-shirt and the YNAB book to five winners. We'd like to include new folks as well as current forum users, so even if you're not new, please participate!

So here's how it will work:

  • Leave a comment below with one thing you love about YNAB.
  • On Wednesday, 4/25 I will choose five people at random.
  • That day, I'll contact the winners privately to get some information so we can send a prize!

A few notes for new folks:

If you haven't created an account with the forum yet, you'll just need to do so before you can comment. Click 'Login' at the top of the screen. If you're already logged in to your budget in the same browser, you'll automatically be signed into the forum. If not, sign in with the same email and password you use to log in to the YNAB app.  If you haven't used YNAB before, you'll need to create an account first.

New folks will be assigned a random name, avatar, and username, but you can change your name and avatar if you like! Just click your user icon in the upper right corner and select Edit Profile.

  • I love how fluid and flexible YNAB is. My favorite feature is moving money from one budget category to another. Let’s me just go with the flow and not worry when unexpected costs come up!

  • I love how YNAB helps me organize my many accounts. I even use it to keep track of gift cards, credit cards points, and the money my sister owes me.

Seeing everything in one place helps me make better decisions with my money! 🤓

  • Paying down debt rapidly due to YNAB.  (Years of using a competing tool and trying just as hard yielded VERY limited results.)  If I hadn't had a 3-month trial, I wouldn't have gotten far enough along the learning curve to make YNAB my permanent way to manage my money; my money would still be managing itself right out of my pocket.

  • The way YNAB makes me realize that I don't have all the money that I thought I had. It's a reality slap in the face.

  • I love how much YNAB has made me aware of my spending habits. So much that I continue to wish it had tiered pricing for those who couldn't afford it at the current pricepoint, as I would very much like to be able to recommend it to friends and family.

  • I love that YNAB has taught me to budget properly, by planning ahead, instead of looking back and reacting as I was before

  • Love YNAB because it made me see that my old worksheet where I used to control my budget wasn't working to plan ahead. And my priorities were all lost in a budget where I never used to "roll the punches". Now with YNAB my money has clear purposes and that makes me feel safe, because I'm never afraid to buy something (specially expensive things) if they were planned.

  • I love that YNAB has allowed my spouse and I to focus on our priorities and get on the same page financially. I really love how easy the app is to use and keeps spending up to date - the split categories feature is so helpful!

  • I love that YNAB is helping me see my money. Having a weekly paycheck I have struggled for more than a year on how to pay large bills like rent and car payments and still have money for groceries and gas.  YNAB has helped me allocate my every sent of each paycheck and not spend money twice or three times! The savings from bounced checks alone will pay for the subscription.

  • I love the flexibility. Like, I overspend one category, and I haven't failed. I just need to find the money elsewhere. Game instead of shame!

  • I like that I can set goals and take notes with each category of my budget.  Helps me remember the due dates and how much I need to budget to reach pay off.

  • I love the convenience! I used to keep track of my finances with an Excel sheet but sometimes I forget to key in things. Now I just key in as I go with the mobile app.

  • I appreciate how in control I feel with YNAB. I know this comes with doing something about my finances (turns out ignoring isn’t “something”). But YNAB is different in its non-judge mental approach. That keeps me coming back. Thank you!

  • I love YNAB because it has allowed me to take budgeting to the next level. I've always been fairly good with saving and planning for the future - but thanks to YNAB, I've been able to accelerate the completion of my goals! Giving every dollar a job has allowed me to pay off my 15k+ graduate school loan in less than 4 months!

  • Last year we unexpectedly had to replace the transmission in a car. After WAM-ing everything we could, we found that we had waaaay more to put toward it than we thought. My sister helped with the rest and we were able to pay her back quickly by creating a tracking account for what we owed her. Granted, that put us back to square one with refilling all the buckets we'd taken from, but using goals we're back on track with that, too. Thank you YNAB!!!

  • I love how stress-free it makes our financial life. We have confidence in our numbers. And we loved when the phone app came out (been using YNAB since v3)  so I didn't have to collect my husband's receipts every night.  :)

  • One of our favorite YNAB features is the way it handles credit cards, allowing us to use them for the points and rewards while still not riding the credit card float. Boom!
