Anyone using just the mobile version?

I am not there yet with getting rid of a computer completely but with YNAB I do most things on my phone or Ipad. The problems I am running into with this are:

- can't search for a transaction

- can't see a spending report

- can't reconcile

I am fine with doing these things on a computer but for example, this week I wanted to get a 2nd rug that is the same as a previous one I bought. But I couldn't recall where i bought the first one. I know I put rug in the memo so I wanted to search so I could see which store I bought it at. Can't do that on my iphone or iPad.

  • Hi MXMOM !

Sorry for the trouble there! You're exactly right - currently, none of those features are available on the mobile app. We want the mobile app to be as fully functioning as the web app, but we're not quite there yet. There are some users who are primarily mobile users, but they have to access the web app if they need those options. I can't offer a time frame, but we have these things in our sights! :)

  • We just use our phones and our iPad. My only complaint is that you can’t manage your subscription through the mobile app. So if my debit card expires I guess I’m just SOL. 😂

  • I am using the Android version exclusively myself, at least until I fully fund my computer category.

  • I have been a 100% iOS household for over a year now. The ONLY shortcomings I’ve encountered are with the various budgeting apps. Neither YNAB nor Mvelopes offers adequate mobile support.   At least with YNAB you can still access the web version on your iPad but that too does not work very smoothly. You cannot even access Mvelopes web app on iOS since it is still in Flash format.  Several of us have been putting in feature requests for mobile app improvement. Unfortunately those requests have not amounted to anything, yet.

HTR how are you accessing the web version on your iPad? I only use an iPad, no computer and this software is making me insane with all of its limitations.

    • Cyan Mask Hi! I have also started accessing the web version through my iPad. I just like the look and feel of it better than the app.

In order to reach the web version, you need to press and hold the "refresh" icon in the address bar in Safari. It will then display a prompt for retrieving the web version of the site and your budget will load as it does on the computer.

There are some things that don't work right (like the pop up menus for editing transactions) but overall, it's fine.
