Preparing budget for maternity leave UK
My husband and I will be merging salaries in the coming months as I will be going on maternity leave in August.
We are trying to figure out how to organise the categories so that it reflects various things like haircuts, clothing, fun money for both of us, baby groups and days out etc. Would it be best to be very specific with categories so we drill right down to ensure that we have funds where we need them or lump them together.
would be interested to see how people have managed it. I don’t want to make it so complicated were put off!

Do you currently have a Budget Template in place? If not, that's a great place to start! If so, it never hurts to take a new look at your categories. You could each have a Fun Money category and use the funds in that category to cover personal spending, or you could be more specific with personal care categories for each of you and baby categories.
It comes down to what you're most comfortable with handling in your budget. There's a thread in this forum with examples from other YNABers and their category choices. :)
