Sorry YNAB.... you are so out of date

YNAB does not seem interested in reaching out to us in the UK.  There once was UK bank feeds, but that was withdrawn.

YNAB say that you can still enjoy the benefits using CSV import, but hey, that is going backwards.  Every month having to export from all of my account into YNAB and then have the hassle of balancing everything up does not seem to me the way to go.

Sorry YNAB, you lost me here, and your standard response of that we may look to develop international bank feeds does not fill me with confidence.

Seems to me that we are shut out from the benefits that our US citizens enjoy on this app.

Sorry I'm out.

Wishing you all the best.

  • I am in New Zealand and have no direct importing . I knew this before I purchased as there was a free trial period . Is this not available in other countries?

I found it great as I knew exactly what I was buying.

makaeo Software is not a product, it's a service, one you pay for continually, which means it should and can be continually improved. This is base functionality that every other service has got right, YNAB are dragging their feet because they only care about their US customers.

Tetsugaku   do you know how to let them know this isn't acceptable? Don't use their service.

    • Herman Thats not how software as a service works - they get better, that's what we pay them money for.

Tetsugaku that's how being a consumer works. Don't pay for a service that doesn't meet your needs

  • I would like to see direct import as an added option so those who choose to not use it or those who do not have access to it are not charged for that service.  Not sure what the cost is for that service but all customers world wide are subsidizing the US customers.  I am in the US and have access but choose to not use it because I like manual entry better.  It seems like most problems that are reported on this site are direct import problems of some sort and a lot of development resources are committed to direct import that could be used for product improvement (fix stealing from the future, ability to restore from a backup...).

ynaber2613 This would be my ideal scenario. Give those without an option to DI, the opportunity not to pay for it. I love YNAB but it irks me no end that I pay the same price for less functionality. I think the line of ‘We don’t itemise the cost’ is just a that, a line. I’m sure they know how much they spend on it.

I've been using YNAB for a long time and don't need YNAB trainers or YNAB classes. Should I get a break for not using those?

Superbone I see your point here but at least we in the US have the option of using direct import, users in other countries do not even have that option so are in effect subsidizing the US customers.

  • It is quite unfair such that they charge the same price regardless the bank importing feature.  I do really like the app itself, and willing to pay for it as long as its cheaper when I can choose to not have the import feature. Otherwise, I certainly don't mind spending a little bit time and implement the whole system in Excel, I feel that is doable, just not as pretty. There are also pre-built template you can find online.

  • We're closing out Bank Importing threads in the forum to make sure these issues are better resolved.

Replies in this thread have been turned off, but you can still suggest new banks (even international banks) in the app, if you haven’t already!

If you’re having trouble connecting to a bank in the US or Canada, please fill out this form and our Direct Import team will help you get things back up and running! :)
