App icon guidelines for OAuth Applications?

I'm developing an iOS app which connects with YNAB and am getting ready for TestFlight beta testing and the YNAB approval process.

Are there any guidelines on what we should or shouldn't have in our app icons? I imagine we can't use or adapt any part of the YNAB logo but are we allowed to borrow from the YNAB colour scheme?

  • Great question—I've sent this over to our API team, but it might turn out to be more of a marketing question, and I suspect it may take a week or two for us to get back to you because of holiday break. I promise we'll get you an answer, though!

  • Hey Alvaro Bernarde ! Congratulations on heading in to the final stretch! The YNAB API Terms of Service have guidance under number five in the Attribution & Intellectual Property section.

We include a linked image in the terms that you can use to show your application Works with YNAB, but  yes—your app icon should be distinct. It would not be acceptable to take our logo and modify it to rebrand for your app.

This list of approved community-created apps has examples that you may find useful too!
