Sharing YNAB subscription

Can anyone remember hearing about a change coming down the road that will make it easier to share a YNAB subscription? Something like password-protecting individual budgets?

My partner and I both pay for our own subscriptions. I know we don't have to - we can just share a subscription and create our own budgets - but when we discovered YNAB it helped us so much that we were happy to both pay.

Now that we're out of debt and feel like MAYBE we don't need YNAB as much as we used to, the price increase is making it harder to justify effectively paying twice.

I'm sure I remember an announcement a while back that was something to do with sharing, but now I can't remember what it was. Any idea?

Thanks

  • Cornflower Blue Orca We do have a team working hard on features that will make budgeting with a partner more seamless! I don't have a specific timeline to share, but you can keep an eye out for more details, as they're available, here.

At this point, the ability to password protect individual budgets isn't available, but if you wanted to share a YNAB account without sharing your credentials, you or your partner could access the same budget — one of your with the login credentials, the other using Google or Apple SSO. If you'd like more details on that, let me know!

Cornflower Blue Orca We just did this with I think  Rachel 's help. The biggest challenge for me was wrapping my head around using SSO (which I'd never done because I usually avoid cross-platform credential sharing like the plague). But it was worth it. I'm very much looking forward to YNAB implementing a true multi-user system so everybody in our household can access our budgets.
