Where can I see the total I am budgeting for the month?
I am a recent new user of YNAB. Great product so far.
I have a question that should be trivial, but have not been able to find out where do I see the total budgeted for the month?
I can see the total for each "Category Group" at the top, but I cannot find the sum of all category groups.
I believe the OP was asking if there is someplace that shows how much you have budgeted. @marisa_ynab what you mentioned shows the total assigned, which is only filled once you actually assign money to a category. Is there is place that shows the total amount that is budgeted in a month (regardless of how much is actually assigned)? This is important to make sure you don't have more budgeted in future months than you have income. Without knowing this number, you wouldn't find out until you tried to assign all the money once you have it, which is rather reactionary.

This is the core method for using a cash-based budgeting software. You don't assign/budget money you don't have. It's not reactionary, it's reality.
You can use targets to figure out how much you actually need every month but the goal is to even that out. So if you pay $180 every six months for car insurance, instead of hoping you have enough income in July to budget $180, you add $30 every month and that becomes your core budget.
