USAA Accounts not linking

Anyone having issues with USAA?  I haven't been able to connect for several months and try every few weeks?     Is there something similar to YNAB that works better with USAA?

    • Cadet Blue Moose Thank you for using the bank issue form! It looks like you're connected though a different partner, and I replied with a few steps to try. Let me know how it goes!

  • Hey Jeff G ! I see you're in touch with our support team, and the import partner has been making adjustments to this connection. One question I have is, do you happen to know which USAA login security method you use?

We've learned a few things from YNABers (and team members) that also bank with them. The USAA login security methods that work best for Direct Import with MX are either the CyberCode Text or Computer Recognition option.

It's possible that you've checked on this before, but I didn't see it mentioned. I sent you an email with a few options to move forward. If you decide to continue with troubleshooting or proceed with a refund, we'll get it taken care of for you there.

  • Thank you!  My account has been set up with Computer Recognition I have switched to Cyber Code Text.    It seems to have connected, but is indicating no transactions to import, when I have a three months of data that needs to be downloaded?

    • Hi Jeff G !

When you set up an account in YNAB it will start with the current date. A good budget is a forward looking budget, so past transactions won't import. You should see new transactions start to trickle in within the next few days. :)

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help!

Faness what is the current state of usaa connections via plaid? I am on plaid and still have to input my creds and do double 2fa checks each time. Is that still being looked into or is MX the final solution? Thanks

    • RIP_MSMoney I've just pushed an update to your connection—please give it another try. You'll need to relink your USAA accounts and enter your credentials once more, but after that, fingers crossed, it should work with a single 2FA reauthorization (or less) each time. Please let me know how it goes!

Matthew during link, it asked about reverting to quick login which only requires pin. I do 2fa with sms. R u saying saying that this is not an option? Only needing pin is not good security. Are they working on supporting cybercode text? Your previous vendor supported this

    • RIP_MSMoney I'm not seeing anything that states 2FA isn't supported with Plaid and cybercode text was the recommended connection option with MX. Is it only giving you the pin option? If you can't connect with the cybercode text option, we'd need our Direct Import Team to take a closer look at things.

Faness during setup it said it needs quick connect. It enabled it for me. It would be considered a downgrade from cybertext

    • RIP_MSMoney I'm going to look into this to make sure that's expected behavior. Our different import partners can have varying expectations, but I'll check on this one!

Faness i checked and it doesnt look like my option was changed but there is a def screen during signup/linking that asks if plaid can enable to continue. Pls do ask and look into. I would like to know if they changed something with my options.

Faness did you find anything? It looks like this connection was somehow able to configure itself to only need Quick Login. I still see the rest of my connections to USAA doing 2fa but YNAB seems to no longer require it. I am not sure if this is good or bad. I got use to needing 2fa reauth each time I connect as it adds an extra layer of protection. I am not sure if Plaid supports 2fa method instead of Quick Login for USAA. The first step during setup required my personal pin which I don't think is needed if we did 2fa. Please let me know what you find as I might prefer to migrate over to 2fa and minimize what login creds are out in the world. Thanks

    • RIP_MSMoney You should be able to use either CyberCode Text or Quick Login for your USAA login method. If one of those isn't working, please let me know and let's continue via email!

Matthew I will unlink and relink my USAA account and see if I can do it without needing Quick Login. Will report back.

  • Quick fix:

I have been having this issue on and off for the last several months. I just changed my login option through USAA from Cybercode text to Browser Recognition. Seemingly, the only downside (as of now) is that USAA claims it is a less secure option.
