YNAB and CIBC Canada

I've been using YNAB for a little over a month now.  Happy with everything other than syncing transactions.

 

All of my CIBC accounts sync correctly when I first link them however they do not sync again after that.  CIBC is my main banking provider with my chequing, savings, visa, line of credit, etc...

 

After a couple of days of no transactions I get a message saying that sync is delayed but should resolve itself. 

 

I originally waited a few days before removing the connection and redoing it.  Once I relink the accounts, they always sync correctly the first time, but then that's it.

 

I most recently waited a few weeks to try to let the system sort itself out.  No luck.  I've been entering everything manually to keep track.

 

The app eventually asked me to enter my banking details again yesterday afternoon, and then synced all accounts correctly.  I ended up with 50+ transactions to approve.  Waiting to see if it syncs the next transactions that clear on my account.

 

I also have accounts with Wealthsimple that will not sync (TFSA, RRSP, RESP).  I am not as concerned with these accounts though as they are not used for day-to-day spending.

 

Is there anything I can do to correct the sync issues?  I don't have sync issues with syncing transactions from these accounts on other platforms.

    Sorry for the trouble! When you have a moment, please report a Bank Importing Issue so our Direct Import Team can take a closer look at those connections for you! :)

  • I'm also having this issue with my CIBC accounts. I also have TD bank accounts connected, and those seem to sync transactions no problem.

  • I have the same problem but we only have a balance transfer on that card at 0% so to be honest there are very few transactions that happen. But I’m a +1 for this issue.

      Tan Cyborg not really.  Since I posted my comment 2 weeks ago my account synced one time (3 days ago) and now shows as "delayed again".  

       

      I received an email response shortly after submitting the banking issue report a couple weeks ago saying that they were working on a resolution. 

       

      I recommend reporting the issue using the link above. Maybe if they receive enough reports they will actually resolve the issue. 

       

      Until then I guess manual entry of every transaction is the way to go.

      For what its worth, Mint syncs my CIBC accounts seamlessly. That leads me to believe this is a ynab issue, not a cibc issue.

    It does not work after the first time has been my experience.   I have found that a combination of scheduled & manually entered transactions, along with QFX file imports from CIBC every couple of days has worked very well for me.

      Paul John F I have to reathenticate the actual CIBC EVERY TIME I want to use it.  Its so annoying especially since the cell number linked is hubby's so the text with the code goes to him.  (I beat the security by having it phone the home number and I answer. The robot voice spits out the code without any further verification. )
