Credit card transactions

Is it normal that CC transactions not show as activity in the right hand summary?  Do they not show up until you make CC payment?  Seems weird....

  • If it is. Budgeted transaction then money should be set aside for your payment.

Is your credit card currently showing a positive positive balance in the accounts column??

satcook Yes,  all budgeted transactions, the CC  account is showing correct negative number and the CC Payment category matches.  It seems that "activity" is only show those transactions have come out directly out of a checking account.  Is this the norm?

MTRing Activity is simply the change. Purchases make it go one way, Refunds and Payment go the other. If you want to exclude refunds/payments, you'll have to dig deeper.

  • Hi MTRing !

The Activity is the total cash added and removed from a card's payment category. If you have budgeted spending, that should update the Activity. However, if your Budgeted Spending and Payments cancel each other out, your Activity could equal zero. Are you able to click on the Activity amount?

Faness I understand the calculation but not the philosophy.  Here's the math example:

      Housing:       -$192.03

      Life:                   -$503.21

      Transport:     -$38.98

      Total:                 -$734.22

This is what I think my spending is so far this month.  That makes sense so total  actual activity should be -$734.22

However, most of those  transactions were on a CC (always fully paid) the CC payment category is +396.50.  I get that those funds are reserved to pay the CC at the end of the month.

However it seems weird that the "Activity" reported on the right side of the Budget screen should take the CC payment in to account.

      It reads: -$734.22 + 396.50 for a a total of -$337.72....

In reality:  I have made $734.22 in purchases.....

I also know I can filter this by selecting the master categories excluding CC Payments to see the "actual" activity .

      Just seems weird....

    • MTRing I understand how Activity could be mistaken for just spending, since that's what's usually listed, but refunds in spending categories are treated similarly. The Activity column shows the net amount - so both the budgeted spending and the payment (or budgeted spending and reimbursements, in non-credit card categories). If you want to see just the payment or just the spending the best option is to click on the Activity amount like you did to see that full break down.

  • I am having this problem as well. It's showing zero activity here, but I've had 8 transactions so far in February that have been imported and cleared on my visa account page. What's going on??
