How to import a Line of Credit account?

As I look to get back on track, I want to get my Line of Credit(LoC) into YNAB. I set up an account for it and now want to import the statements. Alas, they only offer PDF downloads.

How does everyone deal with only getting PDF's? Conversion tools? Copy/paste into csv files?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Khaki Pegasus !

Are you able to reach out to the financial institution that provides that LoC? Sometimes, the institution is able to provide statements in a different format if you request it.

PDFs can be difficult to extract information from - you can only copy and paste the information in certain situations.

If you can't access a different file type, Scheduled Transactions and manual entry on the mobile apps can help you keep things up to date. :)

  • Hi Faness,

Thank you for the reply. Sadly, my bank is not being helpful. So I would have to try to export from PDF to CSV. Or do manual entries.

I hope you're able to find an export option for PDF to CSV! Unfortunately, the (unofficial) CSV converter created by a fellow YNABer, doesn't support PDF files.

However, scheduled transactions for recurring expenses (rent and utility bills) and the mobile app for recording spending on-the-go (gas and groceries), may be faster than you think! :).

Still, we know Direct Import can be a big factor in budgeting decisions. We'd love to hear what ends up working best for you!

  • Also, you seem to want to import statements of past transactions, this is completely unnecessary. And a lot of work.
