Transferring funds

I sometimes transfer funds between my accounts. However, I have trouble selecting the payee as transfer to certain accounts when I add a transactions. I can't seem to select the account which I transfer to and hence cannot approve the transaction.

  • Edit the transaction. When you go into the Payee field there will be a dropdown with the first section titled "Payments and Transfers". If your other account is in YNAB, it will appear in that section.

  • I am having the same problem. I try to edit the transaction and it will not allow me to change the payee to any different "payment or transfer".

    • Aquamarine Gazelle Ah, while I could not select a payee by clicking, I could tab into the field and type it, i.e. "payment to: credit" and when I tab to the next field, it selects the right payee. Maybe that will work for you?

  • Hi all! You've ran into a little bug with that "record payment" button that we're working to fix right now! 🐛

    This is on our radar now and we're actively investigating the issue. We will reach out when we have a fix in place, and you can also keep an eye on our Release Notes for updates! :-)

     

    In the meantime, you can go ahead and enter that Payee manually, choosing the correct Transfer option from the top of the Payee dropdown.

  • I am wondering about the progress on this issue.  I am also experiencing this glitch and I see this post is from 10 months ago.

    • Hi Jean-Marie — The bug mentioned above was resolved in April 2019, but that doesn't mean something isn't going on! If you use a private browser window, do you still see the issue? You may need to clear the cache.

      If that doesn't do the trick, you can fill out a Bug Report and our team would be happy to look closer!

  • Hi there, I have the same issue. My account is created, but only sometimes does it let me list the payee as a transfer from that account. Often I end up just selecting a different account transfer but then all the totals are incorrect. I'd love to know the solution because this is getting tiresome.

    • Blue Tiger Try adding the transfer transaction from the All Accounts register. Are you able to see it there When you're in a specific account register (like checking), you'll select the account where money is going.

      Can you let us know a little more about the transaction you're entering? You can post a quick screenshot too, if you'd like. We'll get to the bottom of it!

  • Yes, so here is an example. I transferred savings to a CMA account (bottom picture). When I click payee to make it a transfer, there is no transfer for the Ember Savings account (middle picture). But there is an ember savings account (the first image). So I'm confused why only some of my accounts show up as a "Transfer : " and others don't.

      Blue Tiger   It will not show Ember Savings in the transfer list because you're entering that transaction in the Ember Savings account. It will only show you other accounts in the Payee list.

    • Blue Tiger Since you're entering the transaction in the Ember Savings account, you'll need to select the other account (where the funds were transferred to), instead.
