Desktop not synching

My wife and I use YNAB4.  We've had it for years and its always worked fine until today.  I use a Mac for the desktop version and we both have the mobile app on our iPhone 7's.  Our phones are synched but neither is synching with the desktop nor is the desktop synching with either phone.  Our phones are set to the same budget and so is the desktop.  How do I force synch the desktop?

  • Hey there,  Salmon Koala !

Most YNAB 4 sync issues can be taken care of by re-selecting the budget from your mobile device. When you do, the mobile device is going to load the desktop version of your budget, since the desktop is always the "authoritative" version of your budget. So reach out to us at [email protected] if you have a significant number of un-synced transactions on your mobile devices before you follow these steps.

First, be sure that you have the YNAB Classic app. Then, to re-select your budget:

    1. On your desktop version of YNAB, click File > Save a Version. Then click File > Load Another Version, selecting the time at the top of the list. Make sure your Dropbox finishes syncing, then...

    2. On your mobile device:

For iOS, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), click the name of your budget. This will bring up all the budgets you have in Dropbox. Tap the one you are trying to sync to. (Make sure you get the correct one, sometimes the names are cut off on the small screens on phones.)

For Android, go to the main Budget view (the category list) and swipe down to start a refresh. A notification should appear in the status bar asking you to re-import the budget.

This might take a few minutes, but should sync up fine.

I’m going to mark this as answered, but please feel free to tag me in a reply if I can tie up any more loose ends for you!
