Overbudgeted but I don't know why

I hope this is the right place to ask.

I just got paid for July, updated my budget so all my dollars have a job, and then was sorting through accounts to make sure everything matched up with my bank. I had to manually add the $35 annual fee to a cc account (unlinked) dated the end of May. The $35 payment to cover that had already been entered in early June and cleared. This balanced out my cc account perfectly, but when I got back to my budget page, I'm now $35 overbudgeted in July.

I don't understand how/why a cc charge would come out of TBB anyway, but especially not 2 months later. I'm completely unsure how to fix this. Please help?

  • Some unintuitive behavior happens when you take a credit account balance positive, which sounds like it may have happened with your June payment (before you entered the fee transaction). Taking the account positive would have increased TBB. After the fee was entered, the payment didn't make the account positive, so TBB would not have been increased. Relative to the "before", TBB will be less.

You should also verify your CC Payment Available does not exceed your debt (account balance). I suspect it will now. If so, then remove the excess to TBB.
